Re: Wine + Guild Wars

Well, from wine forum http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9194 you can see that Guild Wars doesn`t run smoothly on wine. There is a how-to posted there, so you can try it. But my advice would be to go for games that are rated "Gold" and "Platinum" in ...

Re: Roxio Photosuite & Videowave Premier Suite for Linux Mint 6

This is a Windows Applications... Windows Applications don`t work in Linux, as Linux apps don`t work in Windows ( except for the cross-platform programs ). If you need to Burn a DVD, use a Linux alternative ( i use k3b, which is the best CD/DVD burning software for me, but there are also Gnomebaker,...

Re: Addressing 4GB of RAM with x86 version

From my experience, there aren`t almost any differences in speed between 32 and 64 bit ( at least for me on my Acer 7720g laptop ). However, i found it sometimes to be a pain in the rear when it comes to installing 32-bit applications on 64-bit OS, like, for example, skype. But if you have more than...

Re: ipod new gen compatibility

I have an ipod nano (2nd generation nano) myself, and finding a tool for ipod, that would have all the features that iTunes have (music, video transfer to ipod, artwork support) was a real pain in the rear for me. I did a lot of researching and the best app i found for myself is gtkpod. The only thi...

Re: Problem installing Brasero and Gthumb

Have you tried to install them from synaptic? If not - do so, you don`t always need the latest version for a software to work and fulfill your needs. In fact, sometimes "newer" versions seem to be much more buggy than the older ones(example: amarok2). I`ve been using Linux for 2 years now,...

Re: Firefox lag

I had the same problem when i was using Mint. Correct me if i`m wrong, but that`s not a Firefox issue, it`s Nvidia drivers that suck. I`ve got a 8600M GT myself. Take a look at Powermizer value in nvidia-settings ( install them from synaptic if you don`t have them yet). I bet that your value is 0 or...

Re: Which VNC Client?

rdesktop - what about encryption (I could google it I know :)) From Wikipedia: Features * 128-bit encryption, using the RC4 encryption algorithm.[2] (this is the default security; older clients may use encryption of lesser strength). But because of the man-in-the-middle vulnerability in pre-version...

Re: Which VNC Client?

I have been using VNC to connect to my Windows machine, but found it to be a bit slow and laggy... I did a little research and found a small tool called rdesktop. It allows you to connect to Windows machine without installing any additional servers on it - it connects as if you were using Windows`s ...

Re: About ready to throw this thing out the window... (Flash)

Are you using a 32 or 64 bit OS? I`ve tried both, and found out that Flash sucks less on 64 bit systems. On my 32-bit i`m forced to use flash popup blocker plugin for FF, since on some websites Flash makes surfing impossible.

Re: Language Bar

Right Click on your gnome-panel, there would be keyboard layout switcher ( or something like that, haven`t used Gnome for ages ). Add it to your panel. You will get an icon on your panel displaying the selected language. You can add new languages in "Keyboard" that is under System, or by r...

You don`t have to extract the .deb file, just double-click it and it will auto-install it.

Re: No internet on Felica XFCE after installing updates

You may want to check out wicd - this program is used to manage internet connections. You may get the .deb file here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=194573&package_id=229460&release_id=659059 It has a nice gui interface. If you don`t want to install anything, run nm-ap...
