Re: How to Encrypt Individual Files and Folders via GUI

Take a look at Gnome Encfs Manager, this mounts an fake drive and any folders or files you place on this drive are encrypted.

Re: Why isn't Lutris in Software Manager?

Being in the official repo wont help. Lutris update's every few months, if it was in the repo you might get an update once a year.

Re: Add a new Grub Menu Option

Why worry is booting into a blank screen, I thought the extra boot option would allow me restart and fix the damage.

Add a new Grub Menu Option

What I want to do is add an extra option to the Grub boot menu. So, the default would boot mint using the Radeon driver as normal, the option I want to add would cause mint to boot using the AMDGPU driver if selected. Booting using the AMDGPU is just a matter of adding this line "radeon.cik_support=...

Re: AMDGPU and Radeon Driver Packages from XServer on Same Machine?

Is it possible to have the option in the grub menu as to which driver is used, so default mint would boot to use Radeon but if I'm gaming mint would be booted using AMDGPU. I'm assuming hot swapping is not possible. The Vulkan and Gallium9 updates can wait until mint 19.2 which will more than likely...

Re: AMDGPU and Radeon Driver Packages from XServer on Same Machine?

I've been thinking about trying AMDGPU, my laptop came with a Sea Island (Kaver) card. Would it be possible add an option in the grub menu, for example option 1 uses the radeonSI driver and option 2 uses the AMDGPU driver. One more thing what is the best mesa version to use with AMDGPU, the LTS vers...

Re: Cinnamon panel & themes / losing preview

I'm not sure this is theme related, I'm using the default theme and occasional the preview window fails, going into "Looking Glass" and reloading the "Grouped Window List" fixes it, "Icing Task Manager" also had this problem.

Re: mint 19.1 does not fix AMD graphics issue of 19

4.18 is the kernel I'm now using without any ill affects. By the way switching back to 4.15 if you run into a problem is just a matter of selecting the advanced option in the boot screen and uninstalling the kernel in the update manager.

Re: Hibernation & Resume

The firmware is still crashing if the network is disconnected by applet or command line.

Re: Hibernation & Resume

Solved. I've updated the kernel to 4.18, backed out the previous changes, and added modprobe additions to the wifi-sleep.service and wifi-resume.service /etc/systemd/system wifi-sleep.service [Unit] Description=Stop networkmanager before sleep Before=suspend.target Before=hibernate.target Before=hyb...

Re: Hibernation & Resume

Sorry, but systemd service don't work. I did notice two files in the system folder "wifi-resume.service" and "wifi-sleep.service", I tested their ExecStart commands in the command line and this one systemctl stop network-manager.service causes the ath10k firmware to crash. I think I try and get the ...

Re: Hibernation & Resume

It's time from plan B, I found the applet "Shutdown Menu with Icons" this lets you configure the hibernation command. So here's what I'm thinking applet code #!/bin/sh modprobe -r ath10k_pci sleep 5 systemctl hibernate systemd code #!/bin/sh case "$1" in pre|suspend|hibernate) ;; post|resume|thaw) m...

Re: Hibernation & Resume

lol no, not at all. see man systemd-inhibit on what that command does. ;) I assumed the command would go on the inhibit list, and once hibernate was trigger the command would be executed. Even if I was right this still wouldn't work, networkmanager is already on the inhibit list. By the way, if it'...

Re: Hibernation & Resume

On kernel's newer than 4.8 once the firmware crashes mint can't hibernate. But if you turn the network off first, hibernation is successful.

Re: Hibernation & Resume

The script is being called too late, the networkmanager has already been told to sleep before systemd logs target sleep or starting hibernation. That's why I was thinking about overriding the button command. NetworkManager[1142]: <info> [1545122755.8361] device (wlp3s0): state change: disconnected -...
