Re: Lutris support quietly dropped for Linux Mint (20)?

The Mint icon went back a week or two ago. When this first spotted I starting look at the alternative Gamehub, while Gamehub has a nice UI, I found it lacking in the game install area. At the time I ask around if the winewrapper (the only scripting Gamehub supports) could be repurposed for Scummvm o...

Re: Did you try GameHub?

I would normal recommend Lutris as it easier to install games with, but Lutris have just dropped Linux Mint support. They still support Ubuntu so it should work, but if your run into problems and require help for their forums don't mention the words Mint or Cinnamon.

Re: Upgrading from Mint (Cinnamon) 19.3 to 20: Worth it?

Not waiting for 20.1 to update, but I'm planning to do a fresh install. This system was original installed with 17.3 and in-place updated to 19.3, the changes 20 bring are huge, the removal of python2, reduced multarch. I believe it will be quicker and simpler to do new install.

Re: DirectX - Wine

Those instructions look odd. The Wine version being used is 1.6.1, the current version is 5.x, and the Winetricks version dates back to 2014.

The easy way to install Directx is to use Winetricks. Just start winetricks from the terminal.

Do you really need encrypted partitions or would encrypted folders do? For encrypted folders you can use Gnome Encfs Manager.

Re: Think I messed up uninstalling wine.

I tried to use it to play some win95 games, but it would not open the exe files (because Win95/Dos I suspect.). You can use dosbox for dos games I didn't like that wine was not under one of the main menus under 'All Applications'. I also didn't like how several files of Q3a was showing when hoverin...

Re: Possible to play old windows games?

Fallout 3 (Win XP, 2000, XP64bit) & two add-on packs (Vista, XP) - These were bought as 'classic windows games'. On the package there is no mention of required online access (I don't have, nor want, a Steam account etc.) https://lutris.net/games/fallout-3/ https://lutris.net/games/fallout-3-game-of...

Re: Possible to play old windows games?

You need to list the games. There are more tools than just Wine and Dosbox, there is also Scummvm, ResidualVM, and engine ports (ie DOOM, Quake). Also take a look at Lutris.
