If Wine could fake it then so could any cheat software, so if it's a good anti-cheat they cannot.
Everything a anti-cheat does on Linux system is done through Wine. If Wine returns the "correct answers" to what every checks the anit-cheat makes there's no way the lie should be detected.

Re: EA permanently banning Linux gamers on Battlefield V

What do these anit-cheat systems check for and can't WINE just fake it?

I believe that shortcut is already in use, I don't remember if it kills xorg or just logs you out.

Re: Gnote not usable for me.

If your biggest complaint is the lack of system tray icon you can add this with alltray. There's a tutorial on how to do this.

Re: Dosbox loads mostly off screen when trying to start game

I missed that line, because it wasn't on the PPA page, which was the last place I was. It was on the page before the PPA, and I thank you for pointing out that I missed it. I have now run that line in Terminal, and yet I still don't know what to do next. If the install was successful Lutris should ...

Re: Dosbox loads mostly off screen when trying to start game

Not familiar with Lutris so I can't help with that. I'm not confident Lutris will let you play games on Linux from GOG that come with a Windows installer only. It depends on the Lutris script, a script can either download from the GOG server or use a pre download file. If it's a windows game then a...

Re: Dosbox loads mostly off screen when trying to start game

To be honest, xenopeek, I think you are speaking Linux, while I'm still stuck speaking English. I got as far as downloading the innoextract tool, but was totally lost after that. What Appoloin posted about Lutris seemed so much simpler, but now I'm stuck on that as well. I managed to get to the Lut...

Re: AMDGPU black screen resuming from hibernation

I've think this has been solved for now. Kernel 4.15 with switch amdgpu=0 works for me, but with Kernels 5.0 and 5.3 it did not. I did notice patch going in for a similar problem so I'll give kernel 5.5 a try when it becomes available.

Anyway Geralt of Rivia awaits :D

Solved. I've had modified the menu last year (viewtopic.php?f=208&t=283906&p=1568498& ... s#p1568498). Removing these files fixed the problem

Re: Bye bye i386, Ubuntu is dropping all 32-bit support going forward

Clems next blog entry is going to be interesting. Yes, for possible news about Linux Mint 19.2 :) I don't know about Ubuntu dropping 32-bit, which doesn't affect Linux Mint until mid next year. Perhaps a beta but I think 19.2 release is still a month or two away. If Ubuntu continues down the path o...

Re: Bye bye i386, Ubuntu is dropping all 32-bit support going forward

We can muse about what could be but there's a whole year left before we see impact from this, if at all. The news is just shared, developers of different projects are starting to discuss if and how it impacts them (which isn't clear right now) and what direction they could take their development in...

Re: Bye bye i386, Ubuntu is dropping all 32-bit support going forward

I haven't seen any comments from the Wine developers, but removing the multiarch is going to hurt them the most. My guess is this change will land in Mint summer next year.

Re: Is Steam Proton a Security Risk?

If your worried Firejail wine, but if your are getting games from GOG, stream, or using genuine install CDs there wont be a problem. The problems may come from warze sites or game cracks.

PS
NEVER use IE 6 or Outlook Express, but you should know that already :P

Re: How to Encrypt Individual Files and Folders via GUI

Take a look at Gnome Encfs Manager, this mounts an fake drive and any folders or files you place on this drive are encrypted.
