There is a thread on the forum about the slideshow which may interfere with installation. Boot Linux Mint from your usb stick, type: sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-mint Then try installing as normal. I'll append the original thread wheb I find it. Thanks! Is your flashplayer still working OK? I ask because I had similar problems in Lubuntu using an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ CPU which is not SSE2-compatible.
