My system crashes every day, with the same message. My taskbar is also not responsive to the mouse so the only way to retrieve minimized items is the "alt-tab".
I would be happy to give hardware details if the development team think that is helpful.
Cheers

Re: 18.1 locks up
Thanks again. I may load xfce if necessary. My wife uses this computer as well and I don't think she appreciates too many changes. On the flip side I like to switch things up:) Asides from basic web browsing and word processing, I'm thinking of using it as a camera and telescope controller. Wish me ...

Re: 18.1 locks up
Thanks. Do you think there would be any advantage to trying xfce? I would imagine this computer would be used more popularly on windows certainly being more resource intensive?
Thanks Richard

Re: 18.1 locks up
Thanks. I wasn't aware that the cinnamon desktop was resource intensive. I'd be happy to go with xfce if that's better. I've had freezing issues with both Firefox and google chrome. Oddly in the last two days the computer hasnt froze at all. Perhaps when it happens again I could send a /var/log fIle?

18.1 locks up
Hi all, I have installed 18.1 Cinnamon on my Asus X751M laptop. It randomly freezes during general web browsing, streamed video, and also on lock screen. When this happens there is no way out and I have to manually shut down the system and restart. I have done the usual updates not including the ker...

Running application in ram
I have aquired some graphics software that is prohibitively resource intensive. In fact the developer has recommended that I run it under a ram disk environment. Currently I have 24 g of ram. I'm not quite sure how works. I've googled the best I can but not sure how I would actually run an applicati...

Re: onboard grahpics detection
So are you suggesting that I disable the Nvidia GPU in the bios so I can get access to the onboard one? I don't recall making any changes to the bios to get the Nvidia one working - nevertheless my memory could be failing....

onboard grahpics detection
Hi, I installed my system on Mint 15 and at that time it didn't support my onboard graphics card. So instead I bought a Geforce 8400 which worked fine and serves my purpose even though it has less memory than my onboard. I want to find out now if my onboard graphics card is now supported - but I can...

I've been running Mint 16 xfce for a number of months with no problems. Today, I have been messing around with Netflix-desktop and Pipelight - installing and reinstalling - now suddenly I have no sound. I checked pulse and alsa to be sure nothing's muted and all seems fine. Just to make sure my syst...

setting up static ip for wireless
Sorry if this topic is covered - I couldn't find information. I'm trying to make my computer a server for my son's Minecraft habits. The first step as I understand is to assign a static ip address. Most information online suggests a change in /etc/network/interfaces. "eth0" is not listed h...

font display on big screen tv
I have found font display on the desktop to be too small to read. Having struggled with this issue for some time, I found the solution was to go into setting / fonts and uncheck custom DPI. Now all fonts that have to do with "menu" type items display perfectly. This works for all applicati...
