Re: Command line to change resolution?

Woo! That did it. Thank you so much! xrandr --output eDP-1-1 --mode 2880x1620 (normal) xrandr --output eDP-1-1 --mode 640x480 (Frozen Bubble) So now I have a little "rescue" launcher to get back to a usable desktop resolution, right in my panel. Frozen Bubble runs in 640x480. Not fullscreen, it's a ...

Command line to change resolution? [Solved]

I'd like to make a couple of desktop launchers to quickly change desktop resolution. I thought xrander would do it but... no. Following tutorials on using xrandr, my output is not at all as expected. Is xrandr even the right way to go about this? -Thanks! Linux Mint, Mate Nvidia something Mobile (nv...

Command line switch to Nvidia drivers? [Solved]

Command line switch to Nvidia drivers? While trying to fix something else, I used the driver manager to switch from Nvidia to Nuveou. After rebooting, I am stuck with a black screen. Grub menu appears, then the little LM splash screen, and after that it's just blackness. I can go into recovery mode ...

You could check the settings on the wif router, make the encryption WPA2 only without WPA/WEP/TKIP
Thanks.

The router security is
WPA2-PSK
the other option is
WPA-PSK

Re: Wifi drops regularly - Intel Wireless 7260

So it seemed (and still seems) like sudo sed -i 's/3/2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/*sudo sed - made a huge difference. Instead of every 3 minutes, I'm being dropped more like every 5-10, and the speed is better. But iwconfig had already said "Power Management: off" is this a different power managem...

Re: Wifi drops regularly - Intel Wireless 7260

Thanks JeremyB. Makes sense about the .conf files - thanks! What did sudo sed -i 's/3/2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/* do? My connection seem faster. The "Mate Netspeed" applet is not flatlining as usual, and my pinging google has about doubled. After ten minutes my connection cut out for a few seco...

Re: Wifi drops regularly - Intel Wireless 7260

No dice. But thank you for the suggestion. It made me question a few other things - your instructions involve adding the 11n_disable=8 to a *new* file, iwlwifi11n.conf I'm seeing similar instructions elswhere, but with 11n-disable=8 added to the *existing* file iwlwifi.conf Is the first method the p...

Wifi drops regularly - Intel Wireless 7260

Hi all. I need help getting a stable wifi connection. The connection is great for about 4 minutes, then it just *poof* vanishes for a few seconds, then returns. It rarely disappears long enough for the Network Manager to even notice (the panel icon shows connection bars almost always, but occasional...

Re: Linux Mint logo in Google Search. How do I get rid of it

I'm sorry, you said "logo" yet I still thought "icon". Does this article help? http://superuser.com/questions/295696/how-do-i-change-linux-mints-default-search-in-chromium-to-normal OR, you might actually have an easier option in the search engine settings. I just installed Chrome and, for me...

Re: Linux Mint logo in Google Search. How do I get rid of it

I don't use Chrome (or Windows) so I can't experiment much, but I wanted to say, I think that little icon is called a favicon - the same thing that displays in the address bar. Maybe you could check if Chrome has an option to disable updating/sharing the favicon between sessions? (Curiously, I think...
