Re: Updating existing LMDE 1 Systems to LMDE 2

So mintupdate is not working. It just goes back to the list when I click Install. Anybody else seeing this, or is there something wrong with this system? I've found that the problem is pkexec is not working properly. The password prompt only shows up in terminal. So both mintupdate and synaptic-pkex...

Re: Updating existing LMDE 1 Systems to LMDE 2

Mint uses MDM by default, not LightDM, so there's no such thing as the default LightDM configuration for Mint. :) Anyway, your old configuration might be saved in /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf.dpkg-old Ok, thanks. It looks like the background is simply replaced anyway. I updated another LMD...

Re: Updating existing LMDE 1 Systems to LMDE 2

Could someone post the default lmde 2 /etc/lightdm/ligtdm-gtk-greeter.conf contents? Some time ago I made the mistake of selecting to replace the lightdm config with an update, and now the lightdm screen has a "Debian 8" background. Nothing against Debian but I'd prefer the default image for this di...

Re: Is it possible to force intel xorg driver to vsync...

Ok, thanks for the response. The problem isn't the driver or Xorg. It appears that SDL is the problem. It seems like the SDL way of changing resolutions is buggy. If I change resolutions with xrandr, vsync works as expected, so if anyone is having this same problem, make a wrapper script to change r...

[SOLVED] Is it possible to force intel xorg driver to vsync

...on low resolutions?

On an old intel video "Intel 945GME" I'm getting vsync only on native screen resolution and higher (using an external monitor), but not on low resolutions such as 640x480. Is there a way to force Xorg to vsync in these resolutions, or is this hard-wired in the driver?

Re: This is unreal

I tried manjaro, and even though it looks nice I still prefer lmde. I know some debian people hate lmde. Works fine for me. I know deb package building better and it looks like there's more debian repositories than arch.

Re: A new true rolling release LMDE repo

Sounds ambitious but the 2 strikes you're out deal kind of torpedoes the purpose of it (imo). If I wanted to update stuff to test if it breaks I'd be using fedora. I think firefox/thunderbird updates are already enough. The only thing I would change is force Y on keep config without asking, when doi...

Re: Can't connect to other routers after first

It was a bonehead move on my part. gnome-keyring was removed along with a bunch of other stuff in the process of cutting it down to an xfce only system. Had to re-install gnome-keyring, seahorse.

Re: Can't connect to other routers after first

It does, but not immediately, only after a while. This is on lmde not the regular mint.

[Solved] Can't connect to other routers after first

I'm having a problem enabling connections to other wifi routers after connecting successfully to the first one at home. The nm-applet asks for sudo password at the start, but then it doesn't connect, and the icon remains at disconnected. Did something go wrong with the user permissions, or is there ...

I already use bfs and bfq, that is enough for me, but I am stuck on kernel 3.7 anyway because xpad is broken in 3.8+

Re: Printing bugs

Yes, I am sure it was just like that. I have installed the packages mentioned, system-config-printer_1.3.7-4_all.deb python-cupshelpers_1.3.7-4_all.deb system-config-printer-udev_1.3.7-4_i386.deb are needed to avoid broken dependencies. The menu for Printing now appears, and the error has now change...

Re: Will this printer work with LMDE? (Canon pixma MG2220)

I had problems with this very issue. MG2200, but should be the same driver. Printing does seem broken by default in lmde at this time, but I somehow got this exact printer to print and scan after installing the packages from here. http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/P/search?model=PIXMA+MG2270&menu=d...

Re: Printing bugs

The printing is working for now, but it worries me that there is no notification, and from experience I know it's very inconvenient to not have print notification in the case of jams, etc. To me, nothing useful seems to be in those logs, nothing I didn't already know, but I can paste them if necessa...

Re: Printing bugs

org.fedora.Config.Printing This is a unique name that doesn't even seem to be known to Google. Something went wrong during the installation of these drivers. Where did you get them? The same thing happens for any printer I have, both the canon printer with drivers from here and any other printer wi...

Printing bugs

I have gone through the manual installation of the Linux drivers from Canon for printer Pixma MG2200. After some trouble getting it to print and scan, it finally seems to be working (and I hope it stays that way), but I'm not seeing the printing jobs notifications - no tray icon, etc. Opening system...
