Re: usb speed touch 330 sharing

First off well done for getting the speedtouch working on Linux Mint. I managed to get it to connect using the usb modem manager by Steve Harper: http://www.squeezedonkey.com/svn/linux/trunk/releases/ubuntu/32-bit%20i386/ Unfortunately, it never worked for me in Mint 7, so I changed providers and th...

Re: not so reactive...

As for anyone who thinks XP is more aesthetically pleasing than Mint, there's always this: http://ubuntu.online02.com/node/14 Haha this has made my day, I've done it on Mint, it works no problem!!! I can revert to my original theme which is good, because I would not like to be stuck with this theme...

Re: not so reactive...

The android font was developped especially for the android os, and thus for small screens, so it should be ideal for your 13 inch screen real estate. Now if you are looking for an OS specifically for small screens, you can look at: -Moblin OS http://moblin.org/downloads -Crunchbang Linux (I know, it...

Re: not so reactive...

If you don't like the fonts, I suggest you install the Droid Sans fonts. I am really really happy with them. You can even set your browser to use the fonts by defaults. I have heard that liberty fonts are very popular as well. You will get better results than with default xp fonts. If you really wan...

Re: Need help setting up Facebook Chat on Pidgin

Yes, I uninstalled Pidgin and all the extentions and plugins for Pidgin. I also removed Facebook Chat for Pidgin. Then I did a clean install via the repos, and crossed my fingers.... But no, still the same problem, I am connected for 2-3 seconds, then disconnected, every minute or so, I am again con...

Ah, so it is a problem with my system then. I will do more research and try and pin-point the problem on my computer.

Re: Need help setting up Facebook Chat on Pidgin

Thanks for the effort, Kaye, but I had given you the wrong link. This was for Pdgin Facebook chat version 1.38, which actually causes Pidgin to crash  wget http://pidgin-facebookchat.googlecode.com/files/pidgin-facebookchat-1.38.deb sudo dpkg -i pidgin-facebookchat-1.38.deb When you have insta...

Need help setting up Facebook Chat on Pidgin

Dear Minties, I have always felt I was missing out in the whole social networking as there were so many different services available, and you couldn't really have 3 or 4 chat applications open at the same time. Some people have come up with GAIM, a long time ago, which became Pidgin to have an IM cl...

Re: Whiners

A lot of the whining comes from users who have not done their homework: ie. not looked on google or the forum beforehand. The catchment of Mint is growing and we are getting users who are not all computer literate, and have different expectations. If we want to be a community we have to welcome thes...

Re: Not the typical "it's not ready for the desktop" thread.

Well, you must understand the horror of discovering that the free piece of software that was given to you is not like everyone elses around you. Mom and Pop don't have it on their computer, and when you ask colleagues at work, no-one knows what it is. Wait the geek in the basement of the office who ...

I have submitted my ideas. We should try to fix ourselves the goal of releasing the first issue at the same time as Helena. That would be neat.

Re: Browser does not support coupon printers

To save you installing XP, or Vista, there is another solution: Could you maybe save the coupon as a picture, or use the print screen function to save the coupon on your desktop, and then print it as a normal file? In the UK, we can just print them from the screen, but in the US they always seem to ...

Re: Getting more Mint/Linux users ?

Then again, there could be a rational explanation for all this. Some people have a better understanding when they see pictures, others find numers / letters easier to remember. It is something to do with the connections in the brain, if you use your left or right side more. Therefore, the CLI or the...

Re: Create an illistrated web magazine

OK, this is crunch time!!!! Is there already a group set-up for this project? If yes, please make it known. If not, I am creating a forum this week-end to further the communications and centralise all the information. This project needs to get off the ground. I am not taking ownership of this projec...
