Re: Has anyone played around with MX Linux?

I use MX linux on my laptop, while i am not crazy about XFCE it does seem to be a good distro and has pretty good battery life.
On my desktop MX linux wasnt so good but I blame the nvidia drivers on that bit.

Re: Bye bye i386, Ubuntu is dropping all 32-bit support going forward

Technically, there will be absolutely no need for 32-bit software at all. Sigh I can understand dropping 32bit kernels and the like but there are a lot of drivers, software and other thigns that are 32bit only. Wine 64 doesnt work with 32bit apps so this sucks and is going to kill Ubuntu for good o...

Re: 32bit multilib support in the future

So that is some hope at least.
But yes sadly this does mean the end for Linux mint on 32bit hardware, but if it means they will try to maintain multilib support i will take it.

Re: Bye bye i386, Ubuntu is dropping all 32-bit support going forward

...over-dramatic much? Surely it's simpler & more convenient to just use a (disposable as well) container, instead of...changing distro? Plus, Mint 20 still has a year until it gets released... Well i still like to use emulators such as PCSX2, if I want play station 2 emulation its either switch di...

Re: Bye bye i386, Ubuntu is dropping all 32-bit support going forward

Me i am probably going to switch distros. especially ones with multilib like arch or even debian.
LMDE here I come!
Its sad when even arch which was the first major distro to drop 32bit support offers 32bit libs for those who need them for cool things like emulators and WINE

Re: Richard Stallman Gnu Fsf compliant respective Mint?

For me being total FSF compliant is a lesson in pain. Granted in general I make sure that my hardware is linux compliant but that doesnt mean every device I own is FSF compliant and yes i can make compromises especially in matters of what that hardware can do for me. I own a nvidia card, they only r...

Re: Microsoft"s New "Modern OS"

Well yeah its perhaps time for microsoft to change gears again and actually apply the lessons learned from the mistakes they made. And its not like Microsoft is incapable of doing this, the mistakes they made with vista were fixed with windows 7, the issues of windows 8 and 8.1 are actually fixed by...

Re: Flat 'Modern' GUI design and where it comes from (and reflections of Clems March 2019 blog post in relation to that)

For me i am against flat themes as they have become too common and seems like every app blends into the next. Its one thing to want uniformity its another to make it dull and boring. I really miss glassy looks like windows 7's aero or gradients like the older versions of OSX's aqua theme, now both O...

Re: Okay I want some help squishing this annoying firefox bug

the realtek should be the front panel though its mis labeled as Realtek type: USB driver Windows seems to make the same general assumption (I dualboot this machine) as that too identifies it as USB even though its a standard jack connector. I already ruled out the headphones as the issue, and my con...

Okay I want some help squishing this annoying firefox bug

So recently i have been making firefox my default browser and will probably keep it default when chrome drops adblock support. Still there is this one issue, and its been bugging the heck out of me. I get cracking/distorted audio when playing media sometimes, it happens when say i am watching youtub...

Re: VOTE ! Mint-Y-LOGO... A New Version Of The Linux Mint Logo !

Care if i share an edit I made to this icon? This is my effort to preserve mints distinctive icon while making it "modern" My version eliminates the boarder, joins the letters like the old logo and uses the old logos colours so that it reflects the distros heritage. If Clem went with this I think we...

Yeah far better than a boring featureless circle.
Honestly I blame apple for this "material design" crap, its boring, featureless and everything just blends into eachother

Re: Monthly News – February 2019

Oh god dont change the logo to a boring flat circle, its bad enough Fedora is losing its iconic infinity logo in favor of what look more like a deformed letter P then something iconic like its old logo. https://blog.linuxgrrl.com/2019/02/06/fedora-logo-redesign-update/ This movove to flat boring uni...

GTX 1060 blank screen under Linux Mint 19.1 64bit cinnamon

Okay so here is the issue: My father has my old desktop using a core i5 4460 and a GTX 1060 6GB but on linux mint I am getting a black screen. I tried removing the proprietary drivers and using the open source ones and vice versa.... no dice. Most solutions i find online are for laptops with obsolet...
