Wireless connection for mint 18 live

Hi. On previous versions of mint it was easy to connect wirelessly to the internet when booting from a dvd in a live session. I just clicked on the internet connection icon on the bottom right of the screen next to the speaker icon. Now there are no icons at all on the bottom right and I could find ...

mint menu failed to load

Hi. Most times when I load linux mint 17.2 on a live disk, as soon as it loads I get a message "mint menu failed to load", it gives an option to reload which I do and then everything runs fine. I just wondered why it keeps doing this. I have had the same issue with previous versions but not as often.

updates to the ISO

Hi.

I downloaded mint 17 mate several months ago, if I download it again now will it be the exact same file or will it contain all current updates? If it does contain the updates, how often recommended to download the new ISO?

Thanks.

Re: Making mint bootable on SD card

Thanks, I'll try unetbootin and see if that works.

I,m not sure what you mean by,
Set aside what area you want on your SD card for persistence.
Will this be an option during the process or is it more complicated?

Making mint bootable on SD card

Hi. I wanted to make a bootable Linux mint 16 (mate) SD card. I want it on an SD card because they all have write protect switches. I followed these instructions to put mint onto the card - http://www.computersnyou.com/2803/2013/12/create-bootable-live-usb-linux-mint-16-petra-windows-linux-mac/ I us...

Passwords on a live DVD

While I have security on my mind I will also ask this question. I have used a mint live DVD for a while now and I have never been asked for a password, I believe that this is normal for a live DVD. I was just wondering if this means that it is more likely to get infected in a live session than with ...

Re: Do I need updates for a live CD?

Thanks for the replies. When I say, "I use Linux mint 15 on a live CD(DVD). Would it be safer to download updates before I surf, is it even possible?" I only meant installing the updates in memory for the current session. In the same way I install firefox addons for the current session, I understand...

Is the firewall on by default?

Hi. I have been using linuxmint mate on a live CD. After I boot if I type sudo ufw status, it says status inactive. I then enter sudo ufw enable, it says firewall is active and enabled on system startup. Then if I enter sudo ufw status, it says status active. So I assume that the firewall is now on,...
