Re: Are all gtk themes flat and dull ???

You see so many themes using the styling they are using because that's what the majority of users are looking for. Developing desktop and icon themes is a significant time investment. No one really wants to put the time into something that very few people are going to want. The changes in Mint theme...

Re: Caps Lock

Multiple people have already given you the answer how to do this in Cinnamon. Open the menu, type keyboard in the search bar. Choose the option Keyboard in the list on the left. On the top bar choose "Layouts". Then hit the Options button in the lower right corner. You can do what you want...

Doesn't run on wayland by default on my VM copy.
It definitely does NOT run on Wayland by default. The Wayland support is still very experimental. Not much work was done on it this cycle. The move to a new Ubuntu base is almost always time consuming.

Re: [Solved]Desktop Application Menu?

I hope it's clear I'm not the least bit complaining
I didn't take it as complaining. There is no easy way to explain why it isn't an app you can just separate. It's designed to live in the panel, the way most menus like this are. That's all I was getting at :))

Why??
Not really sure what you are getting at. Simply put, it isn't an app. That's just the way it is.

Well unless you are able to write C code and are comfortable compiling cinnamon-session yourself, you can't do much.

Re: How to remove the start menu search bar and icons...

As karlchen pointed out to me, some older versions of Cinnamon don't have that "Edit menu" option. But if you choose "Configure" there should still be an option in there to open the menu editor.

Re: Desktop Application Menu?

The menu is not an "app", it's a part of Cinnamon. You can't just launch it like an application. I understand you have something you want to do but the with the menu being right there in the panel, it literally is already on your desktop.

Re: How to remove the start menu search bar and icons...

Fastest way of invoking the Cinnamon Menu Editor: Actual fastest way: Right click on the menu icon. Choose "Edit Menu". Right clicking on the icon will also give you a "Configure" choice which will allow you to set several options you might want. It's not going to give you every...

Re: Show minimized windows in tray?

Not sure why they would do that.. I've always hated the 'modern' layout. I believe it was using some version of MATE panel for traditional. So it was duplicating in Cinnamon what's available in another desktop. So I can understand from developers' perspective why it was removed. As others pointed o...

right click the launcher in Menu, and select edit properties, then change the command from xed to xed --new-window %U Why doesn't that exact same set of steps work in Cinnamon? Right click Xed in the menu, choose properties, and edit away. Because the properties option does not exist, well not for ...

Re: xed text editor

Yes it is a simple process in MATE, but rather convoluted in Cinnamon. For the GUI way (not opening any files as administrator), You right click on the Menu icon, then click configure, On the next screen click Menu at the top, Then click open the menu editor, Click Accessories on the left, then tex...

Re: Show minimized windows in tray?

Hi Ramesez. Is it what you looking for? Open your settings and run "Applets" Search for "window-list" in the search bar. Select it and click the + button. No, that's not it. I will probably have to provide a screenshot for you to understand what I mean.. Yes it is. You just need...

Re: Fuzzy Fonts on Linux Mint with Fractional Scaling

This happens because fractional scaling under X11 is pretty much a hack. Think of scaling an image in gimp. It's essentially the same as what's being done in the background to make this work. It will lead to blurrier results as well as good bit higher CPU usage since every frame being rendered is al...

Re: Q: Daily Updates on Weather Applet?

The applets from cinnamon spices rely on 3rd parties for their translations. You will quite often see someone going through all of them and adding translations for a new language. I didn't actually check but it's very possible that is why you are getting so many updates for it. You tend to see these...

Re: [SOLVED] Installing Gnome applications on Cinnamon

There might come a time in a not too far away future when Gnome components may no longer be found in Linux Mint by default. - This is my forecast. Lol. You might want to rethink that forecast. Pretty much everything you see on the screen on Mint is the result of some Gnome component. That is not ha...

An app loads the GTK theme when it is started. Changes won't automatically reload. You should always quit and relaunch the app when making those kinds of changes.

Well the css is a bit messy and hard to decipher but that white line is being caused by a box-shadow. So look for a very light or white box shadow that you need to get rid of.
