Re: Annoying Wine Problem!!!

If you right click on the green mint menu icon in the left botton corner of your screen and open 'edit menu' you should be able to control what icons appear. just find it then DELETE!

Re: Unexplained high CPU usage

What browser are you using? firefox? if firefox is too resource hungry try opera.

Also, when the condition you outlined is happening, open a terminal and type:

This is a 'definite' process outline, and all resource use in this listing should add up.

Re: please add winff to repos

I havnt used this GUI but it looks good. I think GUI's are a way of making Mint more 'user' and 'beginner' friendly. Can you provide any more info about winff?? We need to convince these guys that its worth packaging.

Ok what hardware do you have? How much RAM, what type of video card?
Do a:
lspci

In a terminal to get video card details.

Sounds like you cannot get a live cd session running, or atleast at the right resolution, is that right?

No, with the main edition of all Mint Linuxes the medibuntu repo is already enabled. The beauty of MINT.
And by the way, as far as I have found, all necessary codecs are shipped with Linux Mint.
