Re: Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

If an up to date version is available in the software manager (the Flathub version you mention), then what's the problem? The GUI from the flatpack version is really ugly. It's much better to install the .deb from Filezilla. I use the repo version of FileZilla and I've never run into these 'super b...

Re: Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

The setting is under the Encryption Dropdown in the Site Manager. QuickConnect can't be forced to Plain FTP. The setting of what? I think you are replying to someone else's problem. This comparison does not work. If you buy a car Maybe I'm not clear... I'm talking in the interest of Mint, not mine....

Re: Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

The fact is that anybody, even Filezilla team, regardless of where the package comes from, referr to the OS that provides it with no distinction on the repo... and that's quite normal. I mean, if your car petrol pump breaks ever week, I don't think you'll be fine when they told you "The pump is made...

Re: Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

:D Actually I think they don't even read the bug reports because I initially reported the problem to Filezilla (because at least at that time Mint send me directly there), then on Filezilla bug reports they told me the problem is only in Mint because have old buggy software and they can't do anythin...

Re: Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

Maybe if the Mint team let Ubuntu know of this problem would be a bit better than doing nothing or waiting for an ordinary Joe asking Ubuntu (especially a Joe not using their OS that should fake he is).

Re: Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

Hi Cat, I know how to install by myself a more recent version in many ways but this thread is to say that such old version should be removed. Mint isn't intended as a Debian stable that has to keep outdated software and Filezilla, by the way, just like a browser, it's a client that should be bleedin...

[solved (badly)]Filezilla outdated version with super bugs

I've already posted this request some months ago in a bug report but no luck yet. The version of Filezilla in the Mint Repo is the 3.15.0.2 which has both security issues and, what bothers me more, a super bug in the site manager: it doesn't remember the size of the window and worst yet the height c...

Re: Intel-microcode open source. Really? Where is it?

 :D
Let's say we can simply remove "Open source". The way used to transport bytes means nothing.

Re: Intel-microcode open source. Really? Where is it?

Same problem on Ubuntu (Xubuntu). Maybe Mint inherit this scam from Ubuntu?

Re: Intel-microcode open source. Really? Where is it?

When I was young, the operating system consumed a whopping 3kB. User space was 1kB, and words were 4 bytes.

Re: Intel-microcode open source. Really? Where is it?

Just to be more clear of what I'm talking about: the "Intel-microcode is tagged open source just like a real open source "Nouveau driver". My first post was ironic because I know not Mint nor Ubuntu have developed by themselves an intel-microcode, and cannot another firmware because the versione is ...

Re: Intel-microcode open source. Really? Where is it?

~28 years ago I used to program in ASM self-replicate code that changed his form; compiled working code had final size under 2Kb. Have a look at microcode length, it size is from 2Kb to 100Kb... this is huge for pure ASM code just to correct something in original CPU code. I have worked in assemble...

Intel-microcode open source. Really? Where is it?

Running the driver manager of Mint, I can read intel-microcode (open-source) Question: how Mint manages to have the intel microcode in source format? Can I see it? The only intel microcode I know is this one https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27431/Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-File and the ...

Firefox freezes in cloudflare GUI

I've aready open a bug report to Mozilla here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1405606 so I don't repeat the details . I only highlight that every test has been done deleting the profile, all defaults, no addon, no bookmarks, no nothing. I've also purged Firefox and reinstalled from scra...

Re: Lots of dead mirrors

Issue opened here https://github.com/linuxmint/mintsources/issues/98 PS: I've just noticed that there are ftp://* and http://* of the same server for some servers and the speed tester check OK those with http while mark unreachable the ftp version For example http://ftp.ticklers.org is going at 5.5M...

Re: Lots of dead mirrors

Then they're not dead. Some are really, completely dead, while others are accessible via browser but mintSources.py says it is unreachable. I've tried to set the unreachable mirror anyway and it actually works. So the problem is only the way mintSources.py test the servers. https://github.com/linux...

Re: Lots of dead mirrors

From the same machine, if I go here https://www.debian.org/mirror/list all the dead mirrors shown by "Software sources" are working. So the problem is not the servers, is not the routing, is the program "Software sources" of Mint LMDE Betsy. E.g., I've tested more and more time http://free.hands.com...

Re: Lots of dead mirrors

I can get to ftp://ftp.ticklers.org/debian/ from the USA as well. Actually me too. I see ticklers in the browser now. The problem with that particular server is that it does not reply to ping and maybe that could be the reason the Mint tester marks it as dead? (or maybe it's only because it stops w...

Re: Lots of dead mirrors

Those are only a set. There are other 50 with 425 Failed to establish connection. It's a bit strange it's a routing problem. I'm on Plusnet fibre 76/20 and I've got problem only with Mint LMDE. To be sure, I've tested those little sample from everywhere in the world and they are really dead. For exa...

Lots of dead mirrors

Going in "software sources" and clicking "base (jessie)" to check for the best mirror, in UK I get more dead mirrors than working ones. Some unreacheable mirrors: ftp://free.hands.com/debian/ ftp://ftp.ticklers.org/debian/ ftp://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ ftp://mirror.lchost.net/debian/ ftp://ftp.ox....
