Bumping myself to see if anyone has any ideas.
This problem still persists and I'm getting to my wits' end.
Thank you in advance.

Annoyance with dual-displays when waking up
I've run two monitors for a long time, but until recently they were different makes/models/sizes/resolutions. Everything worked fine; it looked a little weird at times because of the differences, but it all worked as expected. I recently acquired two of the exact same monitors. They are both hooked ...

Re: Timeshift mounting a duplicate drive
Completely forgot about this post. Thank you very much for the reply and research. I am seeing the same behavior; gone on reboot, appears at some point throughout the day. There's no particular reason that I want to suppress it other than it is not an accessible drive. I don't believe that it throws...

Re: JCDSee
I've run ACDSee Classic 2.43 under Mint through WINE for years now. Works nearly perfectly, as far as I can tell. A few quirks along the way, it will sometimes close when trying to drag files to different directories, for instance. I'm willing to live with the quirks since I've yet to find anything ...

Timeshift mounting a duplicate drive
After I have LM20 running for a little while, timeshift mounts a duplicate of the drive to which it saves its snapshots. It does not appear in Nemo, but it does show in System Monitor, as well as in conky. Is there any way to suppress this?
Thanks in advance.

Possible duplicates in startup applications
I was looking through the startup applications and noticed that there are a bunch that appear to be duplicates ... sort of. I've attached a screenshot. It seems to me that both Cinnamon settings and GNOME settings are doing the same thing. Clipboard, color, housekeeping, for instance. Is this correc...

Re: My hands have started to shake.
MI: Caret in this context refers to the cursor. So, the blinky thing :D I would leave this open so that anyone else who sees who might have a suggestion will post it. Otherwise, they may ignore it and you'll lose some potentially good advice. I hope you won't find this insulting, but I wonder if loo...

Re: My hands have started to shake.
Two things popped into my mind as possible helpers for you. One is speech-to-text for writing. Simply put, whatever you say is converted to text. I looked into this some time ago, but didn't really find anything that worked all that well. There may have come improvements or new software in the meant...

Re: Window cutting off on right click
Figured it out. Thought that I had tried everything, then something sort of rung a bell somewhere in the dim recesses of my brain. Went to Settings->Windows->Behavior and turned OFF "Attach dialog windows to the parent window" Solved it for everything. All is well. I'll leave this here in ...

[Solved] Window cutting off on right click
This is a little hard to describe so please bear with me. Using LM 19.1 Cinnamon, dual monitors, (inxi to follow) I have a bottom panel on my left (main) monitor (the one set to 1920x1080), set to auto-hide. If I open any application in a window (not maximized) and then double-click on the top or bo...

Re: Linux 19.1 - Screen Blinks...
I'm running a GTX 960 through HDMI with a second monitor through DVI that's having the problem. I don't have another system that I can try it on, but I can try it in live mode, or unplug monitors to test. Each time I boot I just restart Cinnamon and it's perfectly fine - none of the other settings s...

Re: Linux 19.1 - Screen Blinks...
**Update From Below** Turning all of that off introduced screen tearing on my system. Long story short, what I found is that turning both Allow Flipping in Nvidia-settings and Enable VBlank in General Settings, then right-clicking the task bar, hitting Troubleshooting, then Restart Cinnamon makes it...

Re: Linux 19.1 - Screen Blinks...
I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS since I timeshifted back to 19, but this was in the comments in the announcement page: For anyone getting a bunch of window flickering after the upgrade who is using the proprietary NVIDIA driver, try turning “allow flipping” off in the openGL settings in the NVIDIA settings pa...

Re: Linux 19.1 - Screen Blinks...
I don't have a solution for you but I have the same problem I think. On mine anything that I touch flickers and blinks repeatedly - including the text that I'm now trying to type. If i right-click on the desktop then highlight anything it blinks repeatedly. Trying to watch video is hideous. System: ...

[Solved] Re: Three Second Hitch
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I tried the following: Upgraded graphics drivers Went back to kernel 4.15.20 Went up to Kernel 4.17.11 (ukuu is very handy, trytip, thanks for that!) Turned off and on various settings in Nvidia settings and in Cinnamon. None of these things helped. I sort of ga...

Re: Three Second Hitch
Try to update your nVidia Drivers Thank you for the suggestion. I ran this, they upgraded to 396.45, but, unfortunately, no change. Trytip: I did not upgrade the kernel; think I'll stay with what LM suggests for now. Thank you, though. For fun I ran 'killall cinnamon' in the terminal and the hitch ...

[Solved] Three Second Hitch
Since upgrading to LM19 Cinnamon, I'm experiencing a graphical hitch roughly every three seconds. It only lasts for a fraction of a second, but it's driving me nuts. It's most noticeable when watching video, but it's everywhere. While moving windows, typing, opening menus ... if the screens are on, ...

Same for me. Tried a plethora of things to try to fix it all to no avail.
On the bright side, that timeshift thing is spectacular. I almost skipped it.

Re: Libre Office 5 Base
Base is supposed to run Access files right? Certainly not in my experience. I've done dozens upon dozens of Access databases and have never just "opened" one in Base as you would a Word doc in Writer or an Excel spreadsheet in Calc. You can bring in the data, and then reconstruct the data...

Re: Shortcut to an .exe file does not work
Is there a shortcut to it in your main menu (the Start menu? What do we call it in Mint?) If so, Right-click on it and add it to your desktop.
If not, find the .exe in Nemo, Right-Click, chose "Make Link", then drag that new file to your desktop.
