You're definitely not alone. I'm having the same issue. Thank you for bringing it to their attention.

Good heavens, THANK YOU! That's bugged the crap out of me for ages.

I'm having the same issue. I also repaired broken packages in Synaptic to no avail. Looks like I have a few of the same applications installed as you do.

Re: Drive/partitions won't mount at boot
According to SMART all is well. I'm leaning toward hardware as well. I might try plugging it into a different SATA port to see if that changes anything.
Thanks for the reply!

Re: Drive/partitions won't mount at boot
"Unit isn't active" ... are these USB drives or something? Nope. Just a boring platter drive on SATA. It's one physical drive with multiple partitions, but it looks as though the entire drive is not active rather than just one of the partitions. I can mount them immediately (or as immedia...

Re: Drive/partitions won't mount at boot
Thank you all for your very thoughtful replies. I think we're getting somewhere! Given it's not in boot.log; the only other places they'd likely be are in dmesg ( sudo dmesg ) or syslog ( /var/log/syslog ), or perhaps the systemd journal thing ( journalctl -b ). Here's what I found in both /var/log/...

Re: Drive/partitions won't mount at boot
In your fstab , try using the UUIDs (that are visible in your lsblk report) instead of the LABEL= s. That should make it more reliable for mounting. Thank you for the reply and suggestion. I reworked the fstab file to use UUIDs and got the same results; sometimes the partitions would mount normally...

Drive/partitions won't mount at boot
I have four physical drives in my PC that are split into various partitions. One of them, sda, is split into four partitions. Up until a week or so ago, the four partitions all mounted on boot and were available. Lately, most of the time, but not always, they do not mount at boot, and I have to use ...

Re: Turning monitors off.
I've been running two days now without csd-xrandr and my monitors are behaving as they should. Blanking out after the set time, waking up fine, all my windows are in their proper place upon wakeup. I've not experienced anything untoward without having csd-xrandr. I also took it out of the startup ap...

Re: Turning monitors off.
For what it's worth, I'm having the same issue, and have had it for quite some time. Specifically, it started when I upgraded from different resolution, different size monitors to matching monitors. My former setup was plugged into HDMI and VGA with an adapter. Now, I've got both in HDMI, and that's...

Re: Remove "Favorites" from nemo tree view in LM20.1
Oh yeah! How I hate the bookmarks, favorites and whatever they are called in Windows ... And now Mint starts this bullshit. Wholeheartedly agree. If I wanted my OS to wipe my nose for me I would go back to Windows. Hopefully this will become an option in the next iteration. Edit: I mean removing &q...

Bumping myself to see if anyone has any ideas.
This problem still persists and I'm getting to my wits' end.
Thank you in advance.

[Solved] Annoyance with dual-displays when waking up
I've run two monitors for a long time, but until recently they were different makes/models/sizes/resolutions. Everything worked fine; it looked a little weird at times because of the differences, but it all worked as expected. I recently acquired two of the exact same monitors. They are both hooked ...

Re: Timeshift mounting a duplicate drive
Completely forgot about this post. Thank you very much for the reply and research. I am seeing the same behavior; gone on reboot, appears at some point throughout the day. There's no particular reason that I want to suppress it other than it is not an accessible drive. I don't believe that it throws...

Re: JCDSee
I've run ACDSee Classic 2.43 under Mint through WINE for years now. Works nearly perfectly, as far as I can tell. A few quirks along the way, it will sometimes close when trying to drag files to different directories, for instance. I'm willing to live with the quirks since I've yet to find anything ...

Timeshift mounting a duplicate drive
After I have LM20 running for a little while, timeshift mounts a duplicate of the drive to which it saves its snapshots. It does not appear in Nemo, but it does show in System Monitor, as well as in conky. Is there any way to suppress this?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Possible duplicates in startup applications
I was looking through the startup applications and noticed that there are a bunch that appear to be duplicates ... sort of. I've attached a screenshot. It seems to me that both Cinnamon settings and GNOME settings are doing the same thing. Clipboard, color, housekeeping, for instance. Is this correc...

MI: Caret in this context refers to the cursor. So, the blinky thing :D I would leave this open so that anyone else who sees who might have a suggestion will post it. Otherwise, they may ignore it and you'll lose some potentially good advice. I hope you won't find this insulting, but I wonder if loo...

Re: My hands have started to shake.
Two things popped into my mind as possible helpers for you. One is speech-to-text for writing. Simply put, whatever you say is converted to text. I looked into this some time ago, but didn't really find anything that worked all that well. There may have come improvements or new software in the meant...
