Re: Boring Mint??

Many years ago when I was using Windows, I was bored and tired. So, I decided to run a virus. Brilliant! The virus program I was using didn't detect the virus, so I spent hours trying to undue the damage. Maybe if you are bored, you could run a Linux virus? Or even better... Ransomware. :)

I'd probably try Manjaro. If I don't like it, then I'd use Ubuntu.

Re: Firefox and Waterfox Chokes Mint

I have this problem whenever Firefox and Waterfox are running for a few hours. Websites usually load fine. But, it crawls when using the scrollbar/mouse wheel. It is also very slow to type text in webpages as well the address bar; it usually lags for a couple of seconds. It appears to be a common pr...

Re: Winamp...

I don't know about Winamp. But, if you like Milkdrop2, then maybe ProjectM might be a good alternative. It is a stand-alone program rather than a plugin. I have installed the 'pulseaudio' module, so it will work on any program that uses pulse audio. ProjectM is available in the software manager. But...

Re: Mono won't start KeePass from my flash drive

I can't answer your question regarding mono. Maybe you can run Keepass from the terminal to see what it spits out.

Or, maybe you can try KeePassXC, which available for all platforms, and does not require mono.

Re: How to change UUID

This sounds, as if the file system on this partition is corrupted. Run in the terminal fsck /dev/sdaX . You have to replace aX with the proper values. Important: The partitions must not be mounted! Alternatively you run in the terminal sudo touch /forcefsck ; with the next reboot all partitions get...

Flemur wrote:/dev/sdg is the whole disk. Try that command with the correct partition number, e.g. /dev/sdg1
Yep. I am using a 6TB HDD that only has one partition.

I tried Gparted. But it looks like Gparted also calls tune2fs, so I am getting the same error message.

[Solved] How to change UUID

Good morning, For backup purposes, I created clone of one of my internal HDD. However, whilst the internal HDD is mounted (it is automatically mounted on startup), I cannot mount the backup drive, because there are two identical UUIDs. /dev/sdd: LABEL="Toshiba" UUID="f32c5394-5b1a-4111-9a5e-389cb8f7...

Re: Mint 18.1 Rearranging cinnamon applets

Hi Cosmo, I don't know what happened last night. I was not able to rearrange any applets on the panel. And, I was not able to click on an empty area of the panel to bring up the panel configuration/edit mode toggle regardless of how many times I tried resetting the applets settings to default, switc...

[Solved] Mint 18.1 Rearranging cinnamon applets

I have updated Mint 18 to Mint 18.1 using the update manager. In my case, everything appears to work reasonably well after removing the "window list with app grouping" applet. But with the previous versions of Mint, I am sure I was able to rearrange the applets on the panel using 'panel edit mode'. ...

Re: Linux Mint 18.1 “Serena” Cinnamon released!

I had a small issue with the 'window list with app grouping' applet, which disabled my panel. But, overall everything appears to be working ok.

Thanks for the early update manager update.
