Re: [SOLVED} What's in store for LMDE 3, sysvinit or systemd

Any news on LMDE 3?

There have been no updates to the LMDE 2 image and updating a bunch of new installs with over 500MB of downloads is a pain.
Even a method to update the install image with new packages would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: is debian.linuxmint.com down ?

Please stop using mint-choose-debian-mirror , it's deprecated and discontinued and won't work with the current sources list layout (i.e. when /etc/apt/sources.list is empty). Use mintSources if you want to select another mirror. If that is the case why isn't mint-choose-debian-mirror gone? Or symli...

For those of you digging for the answer, it is here [ http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2472#comment-101035 ], comment #9 as an edit to "Monsta": "9. Monsta Says: November 14th, 2013 at 6:06 am And not a single word about why mintConstructor has been silently removed from the repositories and github (and...

Re: How to Respin LMDE

Thank you for the replies. I understand the 'branding' concerns I suppose, but that is the nature of Open Source - the CODE is generally free to do with as you please. Maybe asking people not to use the Mint branding would have been a better course of action instead of leaving people in the cold. I ...

Re: How to Respin LMDE

Really? Not one reply aside from my follow-up?
Do the Devs not *want* the ISO to be current or user-maintainable or something along those lines?
Am I better off using a different Debian-testing-based ISO for my purposes?

Thanks

Re: How to Respin LMDE

Lots of views but no replies... SOMEONE must know how to do it, or there would not be a Live CD at all. Hmm. Anyway, I've made some progress using a process I cobbled together from here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomization I get an up-to-date, bootable & installable Live CD about 7...

Mounting both cards works fine for me now in LMDE with UP7 & the 3.10 kernel.

How to Respin LMDE

Hello all. I keep several copies of LMDE around for rescue purposes and for refurbishing old hardware for people, "like you doooo". Anyway, the point is that it now takes several times longer to download packages and update than it does to actually install LMDE, which does not seem to impress new us...

Re: Possible to 'slipstream' drivers into an install DVD?

This is a bit of a necro-post but I am interested in doing the same thing, especially with LMDE. It takes about 2 hours to patch a LMDE box after the install... However, the link to "tutorial 918" seems to be missing and "remastersys" did not seem to include the installer when I tried it. Would some...

Re: Can't add new PPAs because of JSON error

I've been a professional UNIX & Linux Systems Admin/Engineer for about 10 years, using Linux as my sole home & business OS for that time. I started with Debian in 1994 or 1995, then to Arch, Fedora, Red Hat/CentOS (I'm a RHCT & RHCSA), Fuduntu and now back to Debian via LMDE/MATE. About the only thi...

Galaxy S3 (Internal & External) SC Card mounting

Hello. Many of you know that the Samsung Galaxy S3 (for example) no longer supports USB mounting via UMS. It only supports MTP. Yes, I know about libmtp9, go-mtp, etc. The question is why does (Ubuntu) Mint 15 Olivia auto-mount the SD cards (mostly) correctly using libmtp9 v1.1.5-42 when LMDE runnin...

Re: Can't add new PPAs because of JSON error

Same problem here, trying to add Handbrake. I thought I'd give Mint 15 a try in place of LMDE - only because it has a newer kernel & mounts the SD cards in my Galaxy S3 correctly. I see the exact same errors you experienced. Granted, as a Red Hat & Debian guy I am more familiar with repo files and t...
