No Network Connection while I'm posting this - Daryna

I just installed Daryna (and installed all updates) on a friend's machine and am using a belkin usb wireless adapter model number F5D60050. I have internet (as I am using it right now) but I cannot get any network info because the network icon (next to the date) continues to say that I have no netwo...

maybe??

I think I finally just stumbled on the answer to my question here- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=304131&highlight=xubuntu At least one person here switched from xubuntu to ubuntu just because of the lack of network browsing capability I am also frustrated with. I would agree with their st...

Shared files doesn't work

The menu>System>Shared folders only allows for the addition of shared folders on the machine I'm using, it offers no option to connect to the shared folders on other machines on the network. To clarify more... The only option at this location is to "add" another folder on that machine to be shared o...

Can't find shared files on network

I have two machines running mint, one gnome and one xfce. Both are set up to share files on the network. I can get to the xfce machine from the gnome via the "Network Servers" in the start menu, but I can't figure out how to find the gnome machine from the xfce machine because that is not an option ...

Not a wireless problem

This problem isn't a wireless problem. The problem also happened when I was connected to my dsl router via ethernet, and the beauty of the wireless ethernet bridge I'm using is that it (as far as the network manager is concerned) is not a wireless connection, but an ethernet connection. The problem ...

No network connection, but internet still works?

For the last few weeks, the icon for my network connection has shown no connection and, upon selection, shows both enable networking as checked and also says "no network devices have been found", which cannot be true since I am currently connected to the internet and writing this post. I'm trying to...

Give gimp to a friend with no internet

I have a friend who lives out in the woods and has no internet. I just gave him mint and he would like to add gimp. Is there a way for me to put the package on a cd or other removable media and install with the package manager?

Are there any other packages gimp would need?

thanks.

I'm scared to shut down

Something really weird happened this morning when I turn the computer on. I turned it on, walked away, and when I came back it was at the BIOS. I exited the BIOS without saving changes and tried to boot my linux drive with no success (as soon as the splash with "Bianca" came up, nothing happened- no...

Turn off tooltips

I just installed beryl and I'd like to turn off all tooltips (they just cover up what beryl is doing, which is much better.) I found a way to do this on my other machine running kde, but I can't figure it out with this one running gnome. It's really annoying (especially in the menu.) Any help would ...

I just installed beryl and now mint menu does not close the first time I select something (it does, however, close the second time I select something.)

Is there any fix?

How can I change the mint menu icon

Is there an easy way to change the mint menu icon. I see in properties the icon_applet_name is set to distributor_logo, but I'm stumped from there.

Thanks.

Ran on my old laptop just fine

My old laptop was of that type and I had no problem installing/running mint.

Now I have an AMD64 that runs 32bit mint better than 64bit ubuntu.

I think I had to add noapic to the boot options to get the livecd to boot properly, but I pretty sure that's it.

My applications are squished

I just started up the computer today and when I went to the menu, something was wrong- part of the menu is too narrow. This has happened before and I restarted and it went away, but this time that's not working.
