Re: Dell Inspiron 15... close lid suspends, then reboots running with lid closed

I usually use this plugged in anyway, but ...
I've never seen this happen with any other device. And Dell machines have generally been faultless with Linux.

<SOLVED> Dell Inspiron 15... close lid suspends, then reboots running with lid closed

in System Settings > Power Management, I have "suspend" selected for lid close for both AC and battery modes. When I close the lid, it appears that a restart happens, not a suspend. Lifting the lid shows the screen is on, and the computer running. This is not good, especially on battery power! I am r...

Re: Using a tablet / 2 in 1 laptop with touchscreen?

Sorry for the late answer, but I just bought Dell p58f 7569 15 with i5 2 in 1. dual booting with 19.1 Cinnamon So far I have found that tablet mode works with touchscreen, does NOT rotate, and both keyboard and trackpad are disabled. The 15" widescreen is rather unwieldy as a tablet, anyway! But tho...

Re: Font Viewer doesn't launch from GUI.

I have noticed this same problem, Mint 18 cinnamon 64bit.
opening gnome-font-viewer, as suggested, only allows "viewing" not installing new fonts.

EDIT: I have installed Font Manager from the repo, and it works.

Re: Mint (and Lubuntu) doesn't see anything in USB and HDMI

machfront I noticed you haven't had an answer, yet. I hope you are still around. What would help investigating your problems would be to know details on the system, manufacturer, model, and what version of mint, cinnamon? MATE? 32 OR 64 bit? Do you also have the capability to connect this device via...

Re: [SOLVED] Backup Cinnamon Desktop before upgrade to LM 17

@Ceilidh2

If you don't have at least one other backup of your movies, then you don't really have them! One little mistake, problem, hard drive crash and you've lost them.

You need to do a backup...

...please take this as a friendly warning...

Re: Linux Mint 16 "Petra" Cinnamon released!

Three machines upgraded to 16 (two from 15, one from 14). All installs done at a quick speed. The backup software tool worked famously, even though one was coming from 32bit to 64bit version! My two windows apps re-opened without problems in wine. I only have two problems...I have one machine at chu...

Re: Kworker And You

red-e-made Thank you!! I have caused puzzled reactions from many in my search for a solution, and I have tried plenty! And since this has been an on-going problem through Mint 12 & 13, it really caused me to wonder if there was something wrong with THIS machine. Three other laptops running Mint13, t...

berezka, Can you tell me the 'howto' of this bios update, please? I was affected by this kworker bug a year ago, and it has re-appeared. I tried the same fix that worked for me last time the first one on your list) but it had no affect. I then installed the phc-intel ppa found in an ubuntu forum (ht...

search reveals no "search for files" Mint 13 SOLVED

I guess I hadn't noticed in the RC of mint 13 cinnamon, that the "search for files" (in Menu > Accessories in Mint12) is nowhere to be found. One must open nautilus to get that function now...an extra step added. Or is there a way to add?

Re: lenovo laptop

emmetk1 sorry for getting back so late. The recovery partition is most likely the 14.7gb. Since it is 'protected' is probably why no fs is listed. I would say that using 20gb of the 82 free in c: would be enough, as you can also access your windows partitions to save/load you data too also. That way...
