Re: P.A.M.E.L.A game have you tried it?

Ah right. I just search for "P.A.M.E.L.A FAQ" and ended up on their own site but apparently Steam is more authoritative  Anyway, " probably " isn't very convincing... Just for the record I did ask the company on the steam discussion page of PAMELA and they stated that they ...

How to get AAC support on soundconverter

As of Ubuntu 18.04 and beyond it is now possible to get AAC (.m4a) support on the Sound Converter software if installed via sudo apt-get install soundconverter All you need to do is install the codecs: libfaac0, fdkaac, libfdk-aac1 If they're installed and the full gstreamer1.0-plugins-* then extrac...

StarkMenu issues with Cinnamon 4.0

Not sure how to get in touch with the developer but if anybody is available on github could the developer be alerted to a problem with the StarkMenu app? When using the up-to-date version of StarkMenu on Cinnamon 4.0 on Arch Linux under the preferences options menu under the section "Quicklaunc...

Fixes for System Shock 2

I know that this game caused some issues with some users due to it being a wine ported game but if anybody still doesn't know how to get it to work on Mint I've posted awhile ago some fixes on the Arch Wiki it works on Mint as well you may view the section at the following link: https://wiki.archlin...

Oh just for the record you'll find the promise via this link: https://steamcommunity.com/app/427880/d ... 728275066/ under the criteria: Q: What platforms will P.A.M.E.L.A. be releasing on?

Re: P.A.M.E.L.A game have you tried it?

I couldn't find that promise in the FAQ . It just says: What platforms are we releasing on? We are only officially releasing on PC as of now, but we are also considering consoles, and experimenting with VR. PC equates to Windows in that. In any case, this being an early access game... But it looks ...

Touchscreen functionality on Mint does it exist?

So a user on the github site on the cinnamon section told me awhile ago that cinnamon has touchscreen features and works, is this true? Also how good is the touchscreen feature availability on Mint itself with Cinnamon as default? I'm interesting in eventually getting a Hanns-G 27" touchscreen ...

P.A.M.E.L.A game have you tried it?

Bought this game awhile ago in November tried it on Windows 10 and it seems to be an interesting game some of the characters like for example the infected looks like those from System Shock 2 but what impresses me is the quality of the tech on the game and I like the fact you have in-game reading. A...

Re: Do Windows users delete system files and folders?

Some users which I sometimes stumble upon tend to say isn't Linux Windows anyway or what's Linux. Most of the casual people seem to only be aware of Microsoft Windows or Apple's macOS whenever I talk about Linux to them its like over their heads and they immediately become confused.

Re: NSA backdoors in Win 10.?

Chances of the US government/NSA having backdoors into M$'s Win 10 seem pretty high. No.? Yes. If I remember correctly, William Binney is convinced they are there and he knows about these things. Interestingly, when I asked him about similar back doors in Linux, he would not answer. Maybe he wouldn...

Hostname question

Why is it that the hostname on the Mint Debian Edition requires to be fully lowercase letters with no caps lock? On the standard version Ubuntu-based releases it works with caps lock and can have the first letter of the computer name in capitals but not on the Debian Edition. Is there a reason for t...

Linux Kernel releases?

So since 3.x era of the versioning scheme when do you think the Kernel reaches 8.0 or beyond? Will they ever keep the 3.x versioning for future releases? I reckon in the 2020s the Linux Kernel 8.0 will be out but what do you think? I sometimes like to think ahead!

Re: Mint's own repositories?

Without speaking for the Mint team that I'm no part of, I'll confidently say that this will never happen. There's no good reason for it. Linux Mint isn't a full distribution, it's a re-spin of Ubuntu, most of its package base is Ubuntu's. I have a feeling you may also have misunderstood what Zorin ...

Re: When did you come to Linux?

First heard about open source in 2010 after watching Tron: Legacy then did searches for open source on Google after that then found Ubuntu so I'd queried it with my mum who was a Maths teacher and a head of IT at one of our local schools and she stated that some of her pupils mentioned Ubuntu and th...

Re: Will we get an alexa or cortana?

I have suggested to Amazon if they could do Alexa for Ubuntu and they've stated on twitter the suggestion had been forwarded to the correct team for consideration but who knows they might or might not create it for Linux systems and I hope they make it possible for systems just like Mint itself.

But will mintupgrade be alright now rather than a clean install? Will it work fine?

Mint's own repositories?

Since we have the packages.linuxmint.com on our systems now what about the rest of Ubuntu's repositories? Will these ever be replaced with Mint's own repositories but still being Ubuntu-based? I'm curious about this because this is what Zorin OS developers are going to do with its system and using U...

MintUpgrade?

Hi,

Since we now have the MintUpgrade which apparently allowed users to upgrade from Mint 18 to 19 does that mean we don't actually have to re-install the operating system now? Will this software mintupgrade work for v19 users when Mint 20 gets released? Could someone clarify this for me?

Re: Linux is Not Windows

I just had the unfortunate experience of trying to reinstall Windows XP on my old computer after running LUbuntu on it for the last two years (I am donating it to a nonprofit that uses Windows). It just reminds me how much Windows SUCKS. Had to download every driver individually... Then I couldn't ...

Re: Why do you always have to ruin everything?

The "About me" app is on nearly all of the desktop environments (e.g GNOME, MATE, Cinnamon, etc) it is just standard practice to place that app on the desktop environment. And please read this http://linux.oneandoneis2.org/LNW.htm (Linux is NOT Windows guide).
