Re: How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMi

I now have nvidia-173 working for myself (installer, sudo user) but when adding additional users the screen comes up black. [Question] What settings do I need to copy and to where do I copy them to for additional users? I tried just copying the .nvidia-settings-rc file to the home directory for the ...

Re: [Solved] Evolution fails on KDE

Here is an attached download script for all the keyring packages I installed to make evolution work on a 32-bit linuxmint 15-KDE-RC install. A few of these are already included in the default KDE install. Which ones they are at this point I don't know I've added so many. Some of these may be unneces...

Help - Problems with gparted 0.16.1, ntfs, orange triangle

Hi- :D I searched and I found similar issues cited, but most were yellow triangles. Mine is orange triangle. I have also tried the alternates "sudo -i gparted" and "su -c gparted" which did not fix the error (ie: get rid of the triangle). The error sited is: :!: *****************...

Why do I keep running low on rootfs space (wubi install)!

Hi- Can someone please help me understand the linux file system root size vs the wubi size vs the home directory size. I keep running out of space with 30GB wubis. My home dir is only 10GB. But my rootfs keeps maxing out. Here is the output of "df -H". For a wubi, there are no logical volu...

Re: Internet connection sharing GUI

Hi- I'm fairly new to Linux, fairly experienced with Android, and installed Mint 15 then KDE 15-RC and I just gotta say the networking right out of the box is really excellent on this platform. Mint found my domain controller, and established networking to all of our Samba shares, found the printers...

[Solved] Evolution fails on KDE

After a day of battle, I now have Evolution working on KDE. The problem is a bug or rather oversite with the KDE package inclusions. There is no compatible keyring service installed that works with Evolution. Since I have both Mate and KDE installed (two different PCs), I noticed that on my Mate sys...

Re: Problem with stock driver for Ricoh MP C2051

[Solved] After spooling the printer out of paper with my first test print, I didn't use that test button again and was using another test print button (which just tests the print heads) but the output says "If you can read this then you are using the wrong driver". Well, that message is er...

Re: How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMi

Well I just had another nouveau driver failure (can't idle on 0000c0000 or something like that), read the reply to my last post, and tried it again...and it installed this time! OMG it installed!! :D :D I couldn't get back to the desktop with Ctrl+Alt+F8 or Ctrl+Alt+F7 which was bouncing me between ...

Re: double-clicking on a shell script

LM-KDE (Linux Mint-KDE): [Edit] I found a better way...either way, you have to make a launcher for your shell script. Just create a launcher, browse and select your script as the app, edit the command line to add an "sh" or "bash" in front of its path, then go into advanced sett...

Re: How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMi

Hi- I am brand new to Linux, just spent two days trying to get the failed Nvidia driver install to a black screen result in Mint 15-KDE-RC after the exact same driver worked in Mint 15 Mate?? without issue. I had to "sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-173" then "sudo service restart m...

How to re-enable kget menus?

Hi-
I'm fairly new to Linux, just installed Mint 15-KDE, and was playing around with it, and somehow managed to disable *both* the icon and the pull-down menus in kget. Now I have no controls! How can I re-enable the menus? I have already remove --purged, then reinstalled, still no menus.

Re: How to Resize Wubi root.disk (Windows Install)

Just a FYI :!: I increased the size of the root.disk from 32G to 50G on one of my PCs, and all went well with the resize, but there appears to be some Ubuntu limitation that has been exceeded. I can still login to Mint, but when I choose the Xconf script login option, it fails with a "Ubuntu ca...

Re: [Guide]: How to Resize Wubi root.disk (Windows Install)

OP author request for method review. Is this safe?? :?: Please see [Edit] under "Request for Sticky" noted in OP. Now that I have reviewed the bcbc method and done some thinking about the differences and read the man page for e2fsck, this method no longer seems safe to me, and safely resiz...

Re: [Guide]: How to Resize Wubi root.disk (Windows Install)

Hello, elfaure. It is really great and much appreciated that you cared to post your findings as a tutorial. :D - All I wanted to point out was that Ubuntu user bcbc (by the way, from my irrelevant point of view the best Wubi expert in the Ubuntu forum) came to the same result some time ago. I admit...

Re: [Guide]: How to Resize Wubi root.disk (Windows Install)

(Request for sticky) :D Hm, has it not been made a sticky here already? => (Tutorial) HOWTO: Resize the WUBI virtual disk I tried multiple guides for Ubuntu and they failed. My guide is totally different and only involves two (2) key commands. The wikis didn't work either. Apples and Oranges...

Re: HowToForge - Linux Mint 15 (Olivia)

Hi-

I found the same guide, and used it to set up my system. Thunderbird can't attach from a CIFS share, so I ousted it for Evolution, and added google-chrome, compiz, and conky. Now I've got nearly the perfect desktop. Good stuff.

Re: usb floppy

Not at all sure, but you could try this (assuming you have a single partition on the SD card, and its mounted at /dev/sdb): /dev/sdb /media/MMC-SD ext2 defaults 0 0 (ext2 because journaling file systems (ext3,4) reduce the life of SDs) [Edit] Another old post I replied to, due to previously stated p...
