Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

Yeah I see it similar. Stick with LM14. If you really want to use LM15, then IMHO there's currently no other way, than compiling and installing at least Xen 4.3.0 (as described in my post). 4.3.0 can be downloaded here : [url]http://www.xenproject.org/downloads/xen-archives/supported-xen-43-series/x...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

Thank you easypeasy!!! Now it works flawless with xm!!! But as I saw, you're using it in primary passthrough-mode. I could never get it working in that mode, and still cannot. But it works in secondary passthrough mode. Seems like some option wasn't right for the 4.3.0 version, although the file wor...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

Yes LM15 with XL Xen 4.2 works, but only if you don't restart the VM. If you try to restart it, you get various kinds of problems (as it seems the devices don't get reset properly). This is a known problem of the xl-toolstack. And I absolutely do need the ability for a dom restart. As I also want to...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

@Easypeasy: I didn't have any problem with the standard Mint15 kernel. And the only difference I know, between the extreme4 and 6 (except for additional stuff) are a different LAN-and USB-chip. What kind of XEN version did you use? Also the latest unstable? For then it is very unlikely we used the s...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

Hmm, I tried something new (BTW I also have no experience in this stuff, just FYI). Tried to compile and install the newest xen, in the hope the xm fix is included in there and works. I did the following: added the following two lines to /etc/apt/sources.list (so that build-dep works) deb-src http:/...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

Some suggest to "eject" the graphics card in Windows before shutting Windows down. I read something similar too. But when it works in the first run, then after ejecting the GPU, the screen just gets blank for a short time and the reappears and is again "mounted". And when runnin...

Re: HOW-TO make dual-boot obsolete using XEN VGA passthrough

Hi, I also just wanted to get a Win7 HVM running. Also used the latest Xen driver 4.2.1 package for Mint 15. What can i say: It worked fine without any problem for the first start with the XL toolstack. But with the XL toolstack I cannot reboot the domU. the GPU only works on the first run of the Do...
