Interestingly, upgraded to 18.2 [64] and the flickering is happening at the bottom of the screen.
GPU = GTX1070
ASROCK MB with the bells and whistles.
Thanks!

Re: "Filter Failed" due to permission problems?
Did you solve this one? I had the same drama and found the solution in another thread and special thanks to "median" and "jcockx" who together got to a working solution. Install the 32bit libraries. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ia32-libs Worked for me with the CP105b ...

Re: Linux Printing isn't working
One of my annoying experiences is that with Mint 12 all worked flawlessly. Then in Mint 15; it had some bugs but the printing still worked! Now in Mint 16 the printing does not work! Printer is a Lexmark C543dn, PPD files installed and Mint 16 x64. I am not outright expert with Linux but after a dec...

Re: Help! Software Manager and Update Manager not working
A "snap" extra information........... I note that luckyBackup (super user) does not work where as non-super user is ok. Synaptic Package Mgr still works. Software Mgr does not nor Sources. More when I find it. I am keeping up to date with: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrad...

Re: Help! Software Manager and Update Manager not working
Hello All!! I have had a similar drama and have followed this thread plus another pertaining to the issue. I have followed 90% of the commands, bar the bits about broken packages as my system does not report that I have any. Therefore I have proceeded on the assumption that I would not need to repai...

Re: Why are my applications not the latest possible version?
Hello All!! Forgive me as I am in a rather dark mood. Why? My Mint install breaks if I try to install the latest version of an application - say Evolution. Now why would I want to do that? Simply because E. 3.6.4 has that many bugs it is close to useless. I read the bug-fix for the more recent versi...

Re: Broken / Held Back Packages (Mint 15)
@dhimes Glad someone read my thread. I got no satisfaction from any threads, searching, or bug reporting and as you can see, no support or assistance here. I gave up and formatted the drive and went back to Evolution 3.6.4 which frankly, is a dog and was the reason for the package problem (I did fin...

Re: Broken / Held Back Packages (Mint 15)
Hello Once more, Needed to progress and as my install was relatively new, ploughed ahead......located the package I think was a drama and uninstalled it. That solved the broken packages problem outright! How do I know? It killed the install. Black screen. So did a fresh rebuild on two partitions and...

Re: Broken / Held Back Packages (Mint 15)
MORE Information::::: By trawling through Synaptic, I discovered that evolution-data-server-common is installed and the version is 3.9.4-fta1 - the repo that I had and have removed. Now the interesting part is that if I attempt to uninstall it either through the GUI of Synaptic or command line, it c...

Broken / Held Back Packages (Mint 15)
Hello All! Flying Mint 15 and had some issues with Evolution crashing and forgetting where to find the Calendar. Tried to upgrade (from 3.6.4 - 3.8.0) and I cleverly broke some packages. So.........onto the Forums and reading and trying out each of the solutions: * sudo apt-get update && sud...
