As far as I remember Cairo Dock was buggy...I used to run Plank then now I am using Latte. You may consider Plank then Latte.

I was updating W7 on may 2013 and something happens and I lost windows.
I had to use the recovery process.
W7 was slow on my machine, I was tired od W7
I moved to LinuxMint.
