Re: Is Ubuntu screwing up Olivia KDE?

It's clear that my hardware doesn't like the level 3-5 updates. Since I stopped updating them nothing else went broken. Won't revert to a clean install of Olivia KDE at this point with just a month of expected life. But I think I'll go Debian and leave any Ubuntu based distros away instead of going ...

Re: help documents

i try to search for stuff as the forum asks before posting a post but i've not had a lot of success Yes, almost every forum asks for the same in an intent to keep the topics and the info focused instead of spreading in so many topics, plus keeping the date base smaller. Nice, but... Usually the sea...

Re: plus sign in dolphin file selection

I also don't understand why this is disabled in Mint KDE by default. Anyway, in the Dolphin menu go to Settings>Configure Dolphin>General. Then click on "Show selection marker".

Something to keep in mind from now on. Definitely.

Is Ubuntu screwing up Olivia KDE?

I don't know if it's only me or... When I installed Olivia KDE (still in RC version) it worked like a charm. The best KDE distro I've tried so far. KDE was so stable and everything worked smooth once I managed to install the proper Nvidia driver. As time went by updates were arriving. I don't rememb...

Re: Possible Changes In Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander

Dont get me wrong though ubuntu has done plenty for the community and some nice offspins like mint
Of course they did it and deserve all the credit for it. But they're making quite a few changes in their boat lately, changed their philosophy and goals... and doesn't smell so good.

Re: Mint KDE 15

About Libre office I only use Write and Calc (The same when I used MS Office years ago; Word and Excel). I only had issues with the file formats used to save the documents when you need to open a document in a different PC with an old Office version. You have to be careful with this. Old Offices won...

The group boxes are meant to look that way in the Oxygen style.
No such issues with Oxygen here. They look right and complete.

Do you by any chance have daylights saving time checked or unchecked?
Where? I cannot find it in System settings

I'll check the bios time in the next boot.

Re: Switching users broken on KDE LM15 Oliva

You are right. I never noticed it before. I used this function a lot when I was in Kubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 and worked good, but haven't needed it yet since I switched to Olivia KDE. I's certainly annoying. Anyone knows if it's working ok in Kubuntu 13.04 Or other KDE 10.5 distros? Or is it a LM prob...

Re: Mint KDE 15

This sounds like a video driver problem. Do you have the default Nouveau driver or did you installed any proprietary one? I came across too many compatabilty problems between LibreOffice and MS Office) Never had any. Anyway, you can run MS Office installing it with PlayOnLinux. No need for a decdica...

Re: Why do new people give up on Linux?

Look at Mac, it's a unix derivative, but, it's considered a super user friendly OS. Yet, unix hasn't lost it's way with the people who normally use it. I think Linux Mint is doing the same thing. We can have a version of Linux (i.e. Linux Mint) that will appeal to the Windows type user who just wan...

Re: StartUbuntu - The Perfect Solution for Windows XP Users!

Lxde looks just good. Eyecandy?? Win XP has no eyecandy, so that can't be a problem. Of course, XP is anything but eye catching... What I tried to say is that XP users are forced to switch to a newer Win Aero loaded version, aren't they? IMHO, it can be a problem. I use AV Linux regularly, which is...

Re: StartUbuntu - The Perfect Solution for Windows XP Users!

I looks like a nice project. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you are focusing in Lubuntu mainly. In my humble opinion, To hook Windows (or Mac) users it must get through the eyes first. It should be an eye catching DE. The looks. As plain as it sounds. LXDE is not specially eye catching. Sorry...

Re: Head Scratching Setting Time issue with Gmail.

I made a fast check in the deleted emails folder. It seems it's only the Google servers (Gmail, Youtube,etc...) what have not local timing. They are displayed with their own local time. I'll check if it's all UTC or depending on wherever a particular server is located. Anyway, It seems to be somethi...

Re: Head Scratching Setting Time issue with Gmail.

I have a similar problem, AFAIK only with emais (Thunderbird, but it seems it's independent os the program used). The emails arrive in correct chronological order, but for some reason some are assigned or displayed with UTC time and some with my local time (UTC+1, currently +2 due to the summer time...
