Re: SOLVED - Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia - freezes

Pretty sure this problem was caused by Zoom running in the background even after it had been closed. Had another zoom seession & machine froze & needed rebooting again afterwards.
Thanks to Hal8000 for htop suggestion.

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia - freezes

If it was distribution, then everyone would have it. The common hardware in your home, will be the network connection and power supply. With every intermittent fault, you need to break it down, is it hardware, software , network related? The best way to prove hardware or software is boot from the l...

Re: Upgrade from Mint 18.3 to 19

WEll, thanks for all these posts. I think I'll go with the "if it's not broke don't try & fix it advice" All worked well on my HP laptop (from which I'd deleted Win10), but I'll leave the desktop machine as is as 18.3 is working well.

Re: Mounting DVD/CD drive [Solved!]

Read through post at https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index. ... 35151.html and changed fstab to include the line:

/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0 as this is stated to be the default.

Rebooted & so far - It Works!!! :D

Thanks for all the help.

Re: Mounting DVD/CD drive

Just got a new error message trying to swap discs:

Error mounting system-managed device /dev/sr0: Command-line `mount "/media/cdrom"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0

Does that explain anything?

Thanks again but still no joy! I deleted previous lines & added your suggested new line. Drive winds up but then light just goes out again. If there is a disc in the drive on boot up it now reads fine with no error messages & plays the music. THis is progress but it would be great to be able to chan...

I've read various posts & tried various tweaks so may have made matters worse!! Currently working & fstab reads as follows: # /etc/fs...

Re: Mint 18.2 upgrade went super well

Hi Overall upgrade to MInt 18.2 went seamlessly. I then upgraded kernel to 4.10 & experienced screen tearing & bizarre effects such as tabbed browser windows constantly cycling around & google calender refusing to stay on date i.e. jumping between months/years. Tried a few poss fixes, but when I rem...

Thanks very much. Will think about it very carefully, & exercise extreme caution! May just decide to leave it well alone, as it sounds well above my newbie pay grade!
