Re: Can't Rotate Display Orientation

Figured out what was wrong.....

I must have not checked the box for install propriety drivers or 3rd party stuff during install.

I did

Code: Select all

sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-*
after install, rebooted, and Voila!

I was able to rotate display in Display settings!

Re: Can't Rotate Display Orientation

Found this webpage where someone successfully got display rotated, but did it in ArchLinux:

Maybe there's some info there that would be useful to apply in some manner to situation with LM 19.1?

Re: Can't Rotate Display Orientation

Sorry, posted in MATE section first.

Then occurred to me that perhaps the hardware section was more appropriate, as I don't think it's really a MATE specific issue.

Hence, the other post.

Can't Rotate Display Orientation

Hope someone can please advise.... Just tried running LM 19.1 MATE off of USB flash drive on my little One Netbook One Mix Yoga 2 7" display laptop. Due to display company uses (guessing meant for a tablet), it boots up in portrait orientation instead of landscape orientation. I was able to open the...

Re: Dual Boot Win 10 & LM 19 - LM19 No Longer Completes Booting Up

Thank you for your help! Yes, Win 10 still boots. I can scroll down and select it in Grub and then boot to it OK. Recently, Win 10 did install a major upgrade. So, perhaps you're right that the upgrade did something to the bootloader. However, as mentioned, I still see Grub at boot and can select Wi...

Dual Boot Win 10 & LM 19 - LM19 No Longer Completes Booting Up

Hope someone can please advise. Have a tiny One-Netbook One Mix Yoga laptop. It came with Win 10. Installed LM19 Cinnamon as dual boot with Win 10. Was working OK for a while. However, now when I boot LM19, it doesn't complete booting up to desktop. I see the Linux Mint green logo and the little gre...

Hi, Trying to install LM 18 MATE onto my tiny new GPD WIN laptop. Want to dual boot with Win 10 already installed. So, selected a separate partition for LM 18. At GRUB install, got the following error message window: GRUB Installation Failed. The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed to install into /targe...

[SOLVED] Dual Boot Win & LM17.2 - Won't Let Me Select Windows - Only LM

When all else fails, do a search online, right?............ :) Turns out this is a problem others have.... Solution: Use PgUp or PgDn keys to move selection up and down in list.... In my case, using PgDn key jumped the selection to the bottom of list. Then I was able to use the up arrow key to move ...

Not sure what happened, but when I boot my laptop (Lenovo Flex 10) now, I move down boot list with arrow keys to select Windows to boot up. Can't move selection at all. Stuck at top with Linux Mint highlighted. Up and down arrow keys do not do anything. Any idea what I need to do to fix this? Thank ...

Re: Home Directory Disappeared - Can't Log In

I noticed something else about that fstab: A normal-looking entry for / (the root partition) is commented out, and a really strange one is uncommented. It looks like "/dev/mmcblk0p1" points to an SD card, right? ArchiMark: How did you unmount the SD card? It looks to me like the SD card is mounted ...
