Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

I tried pulseaudio -k after deleting .config/pulse but that did not get the audio working. The left and right speaker playback in Sound Settings did not work either. The only way was to shut down the computer, turn off the speakers, turn off the power supply switch, press the power button on the fro...

Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

It has taken a long time for the problem to happen again but it has after I had been booted to other OS: Haiku last night. I had shut down the computer and booted this morning into Linux Mint 18.3, the lineout audio was not working. I switched over to the Nvidia HDMI connected to the TV and sound wa...

Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

I have not been able to reproduce this the last few days. The sound might be fixed. I got some updates from Update Manager that included pulseaudio updates. That might have fixed the problem. Here is a screenshot of updates I got recently.

Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

Here's a way to test my theory. While sound is working, and a song or video is playing, run pacmd list-sinks in the terminal. Save the complete output to a text file. On the next reboot, don't do anything to try to make sure sound works. Run the command again if sound is NOT working and a song is p...

Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

Hi halregen. There is a "quirk" for Zenbooks that may help you, but I'd like to see the outputs of the following terminal commands before giving you the instructions: inxi -Fxz , aplay -l and dmesg | grep snd inxi -Fxz greg@greg-B85M-D3H ~ $ inxi -Fxz System: Host: greg-B85M-D3H Kernel: 4.15.0-52-g...

Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

Although my problem is similar, I don't have a Zenbook. Mine is a Desktop home built with Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H motherboard. I tried to see if there was a later BIOS, as with the solution for the Zenbook but I already have the latest.

Re: Asus Zenbook UX430 audio(Intel HDA) not working in Mint 18.1

I have a very similar problem. I have to reboot 2 to 3 times, to get audio working but it quickly stops for example when playing something on youtube. When I reboot I also turn off the power switch on the computer power supply then push the power button to discharge stored electricity on the motherb...

Re: Distorted browser audio

I am having to do this command so much it is tiring

Code: Select all

paulseaudio -k
. I just started to watch a video, that I got engrossed in then the sound gets more and more distorted after starting fine. Has this been reported as a bug?

I've never heard of an issue quite like that.

My first guess would be to delete the files in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse then run pulseaudio -k in the terminal. Restart the browser and test.
That worked in my case. My audio speech on youtube & vlc was distorted. Thanks for the fix.

Hybrid sleep was not working before I updated to Mint 19.2 but sleep & hybernate was working. Sleep on it own works in Mint 19.2

Re: Go back to earlier version that Update Manager Installed

I found what was causing resume from sleep to not work. In power settings I had hybrid sleep accidentally enabled. I know hybrid sleep has not worked for some time. When I turned that of it now resumes without a problem.
Just a simple setting I missed seeing.

Re: Go back to earlier version that Update Manager Installed

Is there a way to install the earlier versions? Yes, but earlier versions don't stay available via the repositories, so you'd have to get the packages from elsewhere, there are some sites that archive these. The only version you can go back to via the repositories is the one that LM 19 originally r...

(SOLVED) Go back to earlier version that Update Manager Installed

After upgrading to Mint 19.2 and the upgrade manager been upgraded, it has installed some updates that are stopping resume from sleep. It was working well before the updates. I only use to allow updates to level 2 but I think most updates are enabled now with the level preferences been stopped. So t...

Re: Update Manager

Resume from sleep or hibernate has mostly always worked especially when I only allowed up to level 2. Unfortunately I did a timeshift snapshot only af...

Re: Update Manager

The level system gave a probability based on the level where there could be bugs in software updates. It didn't give any indication of the probability of bugs in any particular update . That's the kind of misunderstanding that led to the level system being deprecated. It did give an indication of h...

Re: Update Manager

My other point is that we should have the option as we used to have to disable things like certain updates in an easy-to-use fashion. I don't think at this stage anyone will convince Clem to reinstate the level system as it was, and the pros and cons of the Levels system have been discussed to deat...

I kept my finger held down on the "y" to repair each error for what seemed like ages. It finally repaired all the errors. I can boot normally now into Mint 18.3

Re: Recovery Mode Keyboard Unable to Select from Menu

I stopped trying to use recovery mode. I booted again and at the screen where it suggests to try those commands, I just pressed enter to go into root console. I then typed: umount /dev/sda2 fsck /dev/sda2 Now I was given endless errors to be corrected by pressing "y" for each error. Doing this is ta...
