Re: ffmpeg application is missing in main menu

I too am unable to get winff to run. When I run it from the command prompt here is the message I receive:

Mint on Mint Drive Sharing Help Needed

Here is the situation: I installed Mint 8 on an old desktop to act as a print and file server (file repository) for the rest of the computers on my home network. I attached an external drive (format is NTFS) to the Mint desktop and made a shared folder using Nautilus (Samba). I also have a laptop th...

Re: Mint 8 KDE64 - External Drive Boot Issue

Found a solution: I manually configured the partitions and took the defaults for the rest of the HD installation. Everything started working - must have something to do with magic... Here are the results of sudo fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 ...

{SOLVED} Mint 8 KDE64 - External Drive Boot Issue

I cannot make my external USB hard drive boot with Mint 8 KDE64. Until recently I had Mandriva 64 on the USB drive and had no problems booting from it when it was plugged into my laptop (running Windows 7 Ultimate). I decided to switch back to Mint so I downloaded the KDE63 ISO, burned a boot CD, an...

Try This

I also upgraded to 7.04 and my Mint wilted. I recovered by replacing the xorg.conf file (in /etc/X11) with a backup. I then power-cycled my computer and everything seems to be running. I did receive another large batch of updates after my "fix". I have not tried Envy as my display looks to...

Lesson Learned About Hard System Lock

I recently posted a few calls for help about Mint crashing or locking up my HP desktop machine. Not many suggestions or ideas were offered and I gave up on Mint as perhaps not being a stable O.S. I then installed PCLinuxOS and there was an option at boot to run a memory test. So for grins I ran the ...

Boo - Thanks for your reply...

A bit more research on this site says that this issue is also confirmed for 2.6.17. My guess is that it wouldn't be a big deal if this issue didn't make the log files grow so large.

How Do I Apply Patch For Linux Bug #63550?

There appears to be a bug in the Linux:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/li ... +bug/63550

I suspect there is a solution:

http://www.linuxhq.com/kernel/file/driv ... /thermal.c

How does one apply this fix?

Mint Crashes At Random

Let me start out by saying that I'm a newbie to LInux and Mint. I had been running Ubuntu Edgy without any stability problems on an HP AMD Athlon box. I read about Mint and it looked good so I thought I'd give it a try. After a couple false starts I was able to get Mint installed and it looked great...
