Setting Up Google Calendar/Thunderbird

I have installed a new SSD, Mint 19 and Thunderbird 60. I also installed lightning-6.2b6.en.US.xpi and provider_for_google_calender-4.4.2-sm+tb.xpi. My memory says there is a set up process in gmail calendar or at least somewhere. Where can I find that?

Thunderbird 60 Released

I believe I read that this is not an upgrade but must be installed from scratch. Does anyone know if it can run side-by-side with my current version (52.9.1) of Thunderbird?

Re: Installation Error Messages

There are no entries in PPA. And there are no exact duplicates in additional repositories. I did delete one with only one word difference that apparently has to do with the pro version of Google Earth. I'll see what happens the next time I update something.

[SOLVED]: Need Help Setting Boot Drive

Well, I held my tongue just right and switched BIOS to Legacy mode, and the install went well. I am running Mint 18.3 on my laptop now. (Happy Dance)

Re: Need Help Setting Boot Drive

So am I correct when I say - if I switch my laptop to legacy mode and then create the USB install drive while in legacy mode, I should be able to install Mint smoothly with few or no problems?

Re: Need Help Setting Boot Drive

I may have misread but all of the suggested reading seems to be aimed at creating a dual boot machine. I have no intention of doing that. So, does it make any difference whether I use UEFI or BIOS? Which is easier? In the interest of full disclosure, I have no idea what UEFI is for.

[Solved] Need Help Setting Boot Drive

I have a Dell Inspiron 5559 from which I intend to delete Win10 and install Mint 18.3 because my original Mint machine is in the process of dying. Trying to set a boot drive in BIOS. Right now the options are "Windows Boot Manager and the hard drive". It only allows me to switch them back and forth....

Re: How to Get It To Boot from USB

We got in finally. The secret on this laptop is to press and hold the F2 key before you turn on the machine.

Re: How to Get It To Boot from USB

I couldn't get those function keys to let me into BIOS or show a boot up menu. I'm trying to get into an older Toshiba Satellite L755 if that helps. Is there a change to the grub menu that could help?

How to Get It To Boot from USB

I am helping a friend who has a laptop dual booting Win7 and Mint 16. On boot up it instantly goes to the grub menu. How do I get it to boot from a USB drive so I can run gparted and then install Mint 18. I imagine it is easy, but I am old and have CRS :)

What To Do With These Upgrades

My Update Manager is showing three level four updates and the upgrade box is not checked. They are ndiswrapper, linux-firmware and linux kernel 4.13.0-32.35-16.04.1. Why aren't these marked to install and why do I need to see them if I don't need to install them?

Re: Mint 18 Bluetooth Not Working

Starting the service was helpful, tho I don't understand why. I have used Mint since version 15 and never had to do that before. This activated the hot-key combination that turns on BT on my laptop. However, I still have to manually connect to my speaker, and worse yet, when I play an audio file, it...

Mint 18 Bluetooth Not Working

Yesterday I tried using my Bose SoundLink Mini Speaker. This speaker worked well with Mint 17. This time I got the error message the bluetooth adapter couldn't be found. I did a search and found that I needed to install blueman and uninstall whatever was there. This software started up and paired wi...

Re: Online Backup

Where do I find out how to do that? I installed Back in Time and plugged in my new 4 TB USB drive. I ran BIT (root) and got it to take a snapshot which took less than 2 seconds. So I seriously doubt I have backed up 72+ GB of stuff. JC PS: Ignore the sig; I am running Mint 18.3. I'll get it changed.

Online Backup

For several years now we have been using Crashplan, a subscription service, to back up or home computers. CrashPlan has decided to no longer support home service. I know we can backup to an external drive, but that means setting a schedule and, at our age, trying to remember to perform the task. CP ...

Thanks for the info. Apparently this laptop is old enough it won't see a 5G signal. Thank you everyone for your time and your help.

Re: Toshiba wifi

I understand the frequency. All I'm asking is "can this model Toshiba receive that frequency?". I don't know where to find that info. As I said, the cable connection is getting 16 mb/s. I would think it should be a little higher, but probably not 20.
