I still get this:
--> PPP negotiation detected.
--> Unable to run /usr/sbin/pppd.
--> Check permissions, or specify a "PPPD Path" option in wvdial.conf.
And i copied this in the terminal:

Can you explain to me what it does? and does this command stick? or do i have to re-type it in before each time i use my internet?

I am not on my Mint boot right now, but i will try it in 30 minutes and tell ya if it worked or not. :P thanks for the reply

I cannot save the fstab.txt file it says "you do not have permissions to save file" :(
I know there is a simple thing i do to fix that i just don't remember how to give myself permission.

Yes i did use the Mint live CD for the partitions by the way :P

You have to mount your file system you can try it with Nautilus in Mint ( but you can try it with Gparted, I think you can mount all your part.'s with it) and “rightklick” on your desktop to open a terminal:: sudo blkid > uuid.txt then there is a file on your desktop called uuid.txt open with Gedit...

I do not have a second hard drive for my laptop and i don't have nothing to back up too any existing data. anyways i'm not extremely concerned with loosing data even if i did mess up... but it would be a pain if i lost all my roms all 20 gigs or so of them. Anyways do i need to use gparted on a live...

Well... i figured it out on my own, i used ubuntu live CD to split my harddrive then i used Mint Live CD to install my "/" and "/home" etc onto its own partitions.

okay so... i decided to leave ubuntu which i always ended up uninstalling and going back to windows (due to various problems). Long story short i read some guides etc on this website and i wanted someone to double check my options for partitioning. I have a 120 gig hdd or so and i have 1 gig of ram....
