You can't go wrong with Mate. My specs are similar to your's and Mate runs great for me.

Re: 32bit Vs. 64bit

All of my computers are older, so I use 32bit. It seems to run a bit smoother on my hardware.

Re: Itunes11.2.2 on Mint 15

I always keep Virtualbox around for times like these. I find wine too hit or miss to use reliably, although I do use use it too whenever possible.

Re: The Mint 15 joke

Peppermint OS based their version on 4 on Ubuntu 13.04 and they have decided to give one year's support for it, which would be June of 2014.

Re: Which version of Mint 15 is best and why?

I prefer the Mate edition myself. I've tried them all. Cinnamon is still a bit buggy on my machine and crashes from time to time. KDE is too much configuration for me, so I considered my main choices as Mate and Xfce. I choose Mate because I like the control panel better, and because I like the Main...

Re: What prompted your move to linux?

I just really don't see the need with continuing with Windows and using something that is complete contrary to my philosophy. I use only free and open source whenever I can anyway, so why not support an ecosystem that supports that. I don't see myself ever leaving Linux again.

Welcome back to Linux. I use Windows at work too and that is enough to drive any sane man to Linux.

Re: What if Linux Mint moved away from Ubuntu?

I would probably move on if Mint left the Ubuntu base. I feel like it's the best base in Linux right now. I really don't care for Debian proper. It takes Ubuntu to get Debian right and then Mint to get Ubuntu right.

I need MS Access occasionally for my work. I've found it's just better to run Windows in Virtualbox and be done with it.

I am a member there but I can't remember the last time I visited there. I use Lastpass to store my passwords and I usually pick something different for every forum, so I am good. :)

Hello

Lin here. I've been using Linux since 2007, so I am still a noob. I've recently install Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon and I was so blown away I have went totally Linux and done away with my Windows 7 install. I realized one morning that I was using mostly open source and freeware in Windows anyway, so it w...

Re: Microsoft is Doomed

I wish Microsoft was doomed. In many ways they have been a cancer on the computer landscape. I think now people are finally beginning to realize that they don't need Windows to get stuff done. It's took a long time to get to this point.

He goes on further to state that "some of the loco mods had admin privileges" and that one of the accounts led to the compromise. It appears then that this was not caused by a vulnerability in vBulletin.
What an incredibly stupid thing to do.

It looks great and I hope they do well. I'm not much of an early adopter anymore, though, and I will be sticking to Android until Ubuntu has proven themselves.

Re: Totally prefer KDE to Cinnamon

When I started using Linux way back in 2007 I was a huge KDE fan. When 4.0 hit I tried Gnome seriously for the first time and have stuck to it every since. Now, I really don't care for the KDE desktop but I still can't live without some KDE apps. The first thing I do on any new install is to install...

Re: Ubuntu lost it? Some say Canonical has lost it way.

I honestly like the way Ubuntu is going. I think they are doing what they need to do for them to survive in various markets. I feel like it's the best linux base out there right now, which is one reason I'm glad Mint uses it for it's base. That said, I am not a fan of Unity, even though it looks gre...

Re: Nemo issue? Cinnamon no background on startup

You could go to your startup programs in System Settings, and if Nemo is not starting up, you could check to start if there is an entry or add a new entry if needed.
