Re: Is my PC too Old?
I am running 19.1 cinnamon on a Q6600, 4G DDR2 Ram, ATI 4870 GPU, and a WD rapter HDD. It runs great! I would try to boot your install media on another machine if possible, just to insure it is good. There might be a setting in the bios that says usb configuration. If there is, set it to hdd emulati...

Re: systemd and old hardware (solved)
Turns out I didn't have a systemD problem, I had a WD (hdd) problem. My newest hdd died in a way I have not seen before. It appears the controller was working poorly as there seemed to be no mechanical problems. Replaced the hdd and 19.1 is running flawlessly.

systemd and old hardware (solved)
I have been on linux for about 12yrs, about half of that with mint. I have 2 machines, one is about 2012 vintage with a 3rd gen i5 running mint 19.1 cinnamon. It runs it quite well with no issues. My other machine is a Q6600 quad core (yes I know, passed old). This one is running 17.3 cinnamon and i...

Re: Cinnamon crashes on wake-up
I do, in fact, have an nvidia card. Thanks for the info, I,ll give it some time and see if it gets fixed. Not a big deal either way, Linux Mint is my favorite OS, and this does not change that.

Cinnamon crashes on wake-up
Hello, I recently upgraded to 17.3. When I wake my machine ( from suspend to RAM), Cinnamon crashes. Once I restart Cinnamon, all is well. I have run all previous versions of Mint 17 ( 17, 17.1, 17.2 ) and did not have this problem. Any thoughts on this?

17.2 no sound
Just updated to 17.2 from 17.1. 17.2 with old kernel works fine, with new kernel (3.16), no sound. Checked all settings and the sound card is seen as well as supposedly working correctly, but no sound. reverted back to 3.13 kernel and all is well. Sound card is a xonar DG. Anyone have any ideas on t...

I am new to Linux mint, not so much to linux. I have been away from it for a few months because I wasn't feelin ubuntu so much any more. I have read quite alot about mint, and decided it was time to try it out. Everything was fine from the start and I really like how it works. I am running 64bit min...
