Re: Is there a pdf viewer with multi thread support?

Hello phd21, thank you for your answer. I'm using calibre for organizing my library. Unfortunately both tools don't work too good as pdf reader. On the other hand I'm pretty happy you mentioned xnview because I never realised they went multiplatform since I left windows :D Now I have my favorite ima...

Is there a pdf viewer with multi thread support?

Hello,

is there a pdf viewer with multi thread support?

I search through a lot of pdf files with 700-1000 pages and it takes quite some time which I'm trying to solve. Seems only one of my six cores is used and maxed out.

Thanks

Re: lame vs. GStreamer via soundconverter

I encoded the flac on the shell with lame -V2 I gather you meant that you encoded an mp3 file; IOW, converted a flac file to an mp3 file. .. ? Right, encoded mp3 with a flac source. I case anyone want to encode on the shell without having to go for every single file. I put a small script called "la...

lame vs. GStreamer via soundconverter

Hi, I just encoded some flac files in soundconverter (should be using GStreamer ugly package) and I noticed duration of the track and display of current position in the track is broken (shown time is ahead of the position in the track). Usind vbr on high setting, which should equal lame -V2. Also tr...

Re: LibreOffice in LM18 - garbled text

I also had the problem that after enabling openGL my system completely froze and had to do a hard reset  . Then I installed 5.2 over the ppa and disabled openGL. Well this bug is gone but new bugs came up: glitches in the menus (flickering and missing symbols) and also saving some files freeze...

Cheers Close LO completely - and make sure, that also the quick starter is closed. Open your fil...

LibreOffice in LM18 - garbled text

Hallo, did anyone find a fix for the garbled text problem? During the beta time some people had the same problem, still existing for me. Highlighting / Double clicking on garbled text turns it to normal text. Not hurting much but not beautiful either  Cheers https://i.imgur.com/k9QbHY9.png Sys...

Re: Linux Mint may be too fiddly for my continued use

Linux is an excellent community response to Windows. However it would definitely benefit from a bit more "paid vision" in order to see where it can and should go. I would pony up some more bucks over time if Linux made some efforts to professionalize its development cycle. I think we need to distin...

Re: Browser Suggestions

Chromium from repositories is always at least one version behind the last stable chrome version (not really desired for a browser).
Get the latest firefox or chrome in my opinion.

Re: Nemo - cahnge default sidebar width?

Hi, thanks for your answer. Seems there is a problem when using Splitscreen / two screen mode. When I use single screen mode, then adjust the sidebar width nemo remebers it, even if I switch to two screen (F3) and restart nemo. But if I then set default to two screen mode again, nemo overwrites my s...

... In the other hand, what does it cost you to do so and start using a Program like KeePassX? .... I resist keeping sensitive data in the cloud, especially all of my passwords, just one password unlocks it all. Nothing is bullet proof. BTW: KeePass got hacked a couple years ago... could hap...

Re: thinkpad edge 11 (intel) / pulseaudio line-in problem

Solved it. Had to switch some settings while using the app (in this case skype) What I did was 1) make a test call in skype 2) Search for pulseaudio in Linux apps menue 3) change input I don't get why there is no easy way to change standard input without having an app actively using the mic. Found i...
