Re: [Solved] Could not refresh the list of updates
I'm going to ask a very critical question about this solution.
what does the command do:
Why do I need to update the keys on this app?

what does the command do:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 6494C6D6997C215E

Re: Mint 18.1 bugs
I also experienced some random freezing after updating to 18 and 18.1 - I fixed the issue by changing my swappiness from the default 60 to 10.
I expect it is hardware/memory related- I'm running a 2016 macbook air.

Re: Mint 17.3 & chrome - system freezing
I think the easiest thing to try would be editing your swappiness: https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/998 I had a very similar issue with my hardware. When the system wrote to the swap file it would sometimes freeze. I changed swappiness from the default 60 to 10 and everything is silky s...

Random Freezes? Try changing the swappiness!
I have a macbook air 2015. It's always silky smooth with Linux Mint Cinnamon. No duel boot mess for me. Total format and start fresh with the latest iso! Well, my latest update resulted in random freezes. I thought it was a hardware issue. I spilled beer on the keyboard. I thought the gooey dried ho...

Add Existing Disks To Fresh Intall 17.3 [SOLVED]
I recently reinstalled Cinnamon 17.3. During the installation I could see all of my disks in the live environment.
Now that my installation is complete I only see the disk the OS is installed on.
How do I add existing disks to my system? Thanks.

Re: Superfish (aka Reason #4,927 to like Linux)
As you are not using your windows license but since you paid it with your new laptop, ask for a refund. Here in Europe it works well. And finally give 50 or 100 $ to the Linux Mint team :) Wait- so Europe makes MS provide a refund if you say you aren't going to use their OS? Does the refund also ap...

Dual booting Cinnamon 17.1 and Windows 10 Tech Preview. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=191207 I'm impressed. I was able to get a full WIN10 virtual machine to operate off a USB- this hasn't been possible for all previous versions of Windows. I think they are really trying to cl...

XFCE screensaver
It's worth installing this version for the default screensaver- I can't get enough.
I put it on a virtual machine and run it in the corner- just so I can watch the screensaver!

Yes- Why would you run penetration testing with anything other than root privileges?
Kali-Linux is a Debian based penetration testing distro.

Switch From LM Ubuntu to Debian Base.
Cinammon Rebecca Ubuntu 17.1 - geeks love assigning code names. The Ubuntu base works well on my laptop. My desktop hardware is getting a bit long in the tooth and needs something more refined. I think the addition of Compiz has something to do with it? Anyways- These are the differences when instal...
