Re: [Q] Grub2 won't change font colors

That was the fix! I figured it out shortly after posting this and neglected to update the post. Everything you outlined is the correct fix.

Re: Patch: fix multimedia keys (play/pause etc) in MATE desk

This is still a problem in Linux Mint 17 (on Cinnamon). I don't think it's MATE exclusive. I can't get Media Keys to work in Chrome at all--yet they work in Banshee, VLC, etc.

Re: [Q] Grub2 won't change font colors

I tried grub-customizer but that doesn't work. Did it make the GUI ugly, and hard to read and navigate and not accomplish what you wanted? If so, it's working perfectly. Here is color setting from my "/boot/grub/grub.cfg" file: # grub.cfg # default=0 # 0=first one timeout=3 # set color_normal=yello...

Bump?

I tried additional things, but that didn't work either.

[Q] Grub2 won't change font colors

I can't get the font colors to change at all; the only thing I've managed to accomplish is getting a custom background on the Grub screen. I tried grub-customizer but that doesn't work. I tried what was suggested here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/433839/how-do-i-change-the-font-colours-for-grub ,...

Re: [Q] Hibernate doesn't save state

This was from an hour ago--I tried running pm-hibernate several times. I think there is something up with the thaw lines. Not seeing any errors there though, looks like it *thinks* its waking up fine. :?: What about now? http://pastebin.com/mu0AGbNh EDIT: Would it help if I told you that it doesn't...

Re: [Q] Hibernate doesn't save state

See what it says in the log: cat /var/log/pm-suspend.log If that file is long, you may only need to look at the end of it: cat /var/log/pm-suspend.log| tail -150 This was from an hour ago--I tried running pm-hibernate several times. I think there is something up with the thaw lines. Pastebin, pm-su...

[SOLVED] Hibernate doesn't save state

I'm using Mint 17. As of yesterday, I had been using Mint with a 3GB swap-space. However, I was finding that I was unable to reboot if I had more than 3GB of RAM in-use. So, I booted on a LiveUSB of Gparted, I deleted my swap partition, shrunk my / file system (the default one), and then created a l...

[Q] (NEMO) Icons aren't using scalable

I am using a GTK+ and Icon theme. Unless I increase the icon size in Nemo, the icons are still using the default Gnome icons. In the "After" picture, I "zoomed" out in Nemo, and then the icon changes. All the icons I wish to use are .svg scalable types. I don't have defined png files for these icons...

Strange, are they still in blacklist? cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf | tail Yep. nxt3@Coder ~ $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf | tail # EDAC driver for amd76x clashes with the agp driver preventing the aperture # from being initialised (Ubuntu: #297750). Re: [Q] Softblock unblocked after hibernate

If you dont plan on using bluetooth or nfc, you can blacklist the drivers. echo "blacklist nfc" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf echo "blacklist bluetooth" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf For whatever reason, it works sporadically. I think TLP is messing with me blacklistin...

That did the trick. Thank you good sir!

[Q] Softblock unblocked after hibernate, TLP cause?

I have the following lines in my /etc/rc.local file

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh -e
#words

rfkill block nfc
rfkill block bluetooth
exit 0
It works upon a restart--but when I go to hibernate my laptop, then resume,

Code: Select all

rfkill list
reveals that they aren't soft-blocked any more.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Re: [Q] Disable NFC chip

JeremyB wrote:You might be able to add a line to rc.local to use rfkill to soft block the device.

Code: Select all

sudo gedit /etc/rc.local
And above the line that says exit 0 put

Code: Select all

rfkill block nfc
and save, reboot and

Code: Select all

rfkill list
to see if it is soft blocked

That did the trick! I appreciate the help. :)

Re: [Q] Disable NFC chip

Is it listed in rfkill list If the module enabling it is listed in lsmod you can always blacklist the module, and are there any option in BIOS for this NFC? Yes it is. 1: nfc0: NFC Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no lsmod reveals nfc 95012 1 pn533 There is no option in the BIOS.

[SOLVED] Disable NFC chip

My laptop has an NFC chip built in. In Windows, there is a way to disable it--however, I have reason to believe that the NFC chip is active when in Linux, despite no feasible way to take advantage of it; I have no use for it, and kept it disabled in Windows anyways. Upon running the command sudo tlp...
