Re: Scrollbars smaller and smaller

I just created a file .config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css and put some size info there. .scrollbar { -GtkScrollbar-has-backward-stepper: true; -GtkScrollbar-has-forward-stepper: true; -GtkRange-slider-width: 15; -GtkRange-stepper-size: 8; } I've not had a chance to try this with Mate, but it does work nicely w...

Re: linux-firmware update disables Mate Weather Applet

I've got the same firmware (really not sure what it does) and kernel Linux version 4.10.0-42-generic (buildd@lgw01-amd64-007) (gcc version 5.4.0 20160609 (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.5) ) #46~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 4 15:57:59 UTC 2017 My weather app is working just fine. Did you try with a diffe...

I never thought this would be so hard ... I figured I'd just change a config file somewhere. Oh the mysteries of life.

Re: Notification Applet Font

I'm running 18.3. Can anyone confirm that there is a change here ... or should I spent some more time trying?

Re: Notification Applet Font

Thanks for the try :) I just spent a few minutes playing with gnome-color-chooser, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on any of the different bits and pieces of the Mate desktop. Odd, since I thought that Mate was essentially a gnome wrapper.

Notification Applet Font

Is it possible to change the font size for the notification applet. I'm running "notification-area-applet" which I think is the default for the mate desktop, but I'm not sure. I've tried to change the fonts in the "look and feel" options, but it doesn't seem to make any different (not sure which, if...

zero is what is returned.

I've posted this topic to the github folks. Maybe they have something to add. Hopeful.

Far as I know, dist-upgrade is pretty much the same as doing it from the update-manager. And, that would be my preference. But since neither method does anything it really doesn't matter :)

Re: Update from 18.2 to 18.3

I just did this: Screenshot at 2017-12-02 23-49-21.png After choosing install updates I ended up with upgrade.jpg from the edit menu It's a poor second picture, but it was taken with my phone then cropped and exported from gimp which I never use :? I just checked again. I DO NOT have that option in...

Re: Update from 18.2 to 18.3

Just as an fyi I don't use update manager. I use sudo mintupdate-tool upgrade -l12345 -ry which does all levels regardless what's set in update manager. I don't understand either why this is so difficult :? Okay, tired you cmd line suggestion: Same problem: bob$ sudo mintupdate-tool upgrade -l12345...

Re: Update from 18.2 to 18.3

Okay (well not okay) ... I reset my sources to the default and get the same as you. Still no update version option. I also enabled the Romeo option, refreshed and tried again. Still no new version. This is getting depressing. It really shouldn't be that hard. Ummm, would any of the settings in updat...

Update from 18.2 to 18.3

Just wondering how long it should be before I see this option in update manager. I've made sure I have the latest sources by doing an update, but the Edit tab doesn't show any update. Oh, and I have changed the repositories as well, but that hasn't made a difference (just tried some US and Canadian ...

Re: Screen saver wakes during night

Okay ... it's not the keyboard. I'm just going to leave this for a few more days until I get updated to 18.3. Hopefully that will help  One thing I have discovered is that the timing seems to be connected to the running of backintime. Looking at the syslog I see that it does a: backintime (val...

Re: Screen saver wakes during night

So, learned one thing: It's not a problem with WOL. The miscreant woke up last night. Next thing to try: I've installed (well, plugged in!) a different keyboard. We'll see how this manages. BTW, I've got no fans blowing, no batteries in my keyboard or mouse. The computer is plugged into UPS. Is ther...

Just a bit of summary: - mouse is not moving. The room has no windows or even a heat vent. - I too had WOL enabled for years. Yes, but putting the computer to sleep ... doesn't that stop things like cron and other midnight tasks from running?
