Re: Removing Zoom give error reply "Unable to locate package zoom"

Thank you for your replies, Flemur and smurphos, - Yes, I installed using Software Manager, the version is Zoom 5.0 (Flatpak). - flatpak list results in us.zoom.Zoom/x86_64/stable system, current in the first line. - dpkg -S `which zoom` resulted in error message " dpkg-query: error: --search needs a...

Removing Zoom give error reply "Unable to locate package zoom"

Symptoms I've been using Zoom for a months or so. Lately it's giving audio quality problems and can't always find the audio. A reboot generally helps. Problem I wanted to re-install Zoom to try to fix the issues. However, " sudo apt remove zoom " (and "sudo apt remove Zoom") replies " E: Unable to ...

Re: Run openvpn client without sudo

In answer to Netherprovinc3's original question (... if anyone's still listening ...): You don't normally need sudo rights (as has been pointed out). For years I've had VPN's from employers and even private ones and never had to connect using sudo. If possible I've used Mint's Network Manager and an...

Re: What VPN is best for Linux?

Also look at https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=242032 . While a few years old there is quite a list of VPNs which have been trialled. NordVPN seems pretty good currently according to many internet postings (and repeated above). [Edit] I used to use PIA (Private Internet Access) and f...

Thank you, Magnus7. I've just noticed that I hadn't replied saying that your updated suggestion works for LM19.3. :-)

Battery Profile for Performace in LM19?

Hi, My laptop slows down a lot when running on battery. It immediately accelerates again when on AC, so presumably it is switching to power saving mode on battery. How can I change this in latest version of Mint? I seem to remember older versions of LM had profiles such as "Optimise Battery" and "Pe...

Re: [Solved] Automatic Keyboard wake from Suspend/Sleep (How to deactivate)

GUI is not available yet, so for now a command will do the job. If you want to disable waking up from suspend for all devices plugged into USB ports, run this command in terminal and restart the computer: /usr/bin/lspci | grep USB | cut -d " " -f 1 > ~/Desktop/t7s1 \ && cat /proc/acpi/wakeup > ~/De...

Re: [SOLVED] Double icons since 19.3 update

For me the "Remove From Panel" option was missing for the Xapp Status Apple (although present for other icons in the panel. Also there didn't seem to be any possibility for removal in the panel/list to add it to the panel. I had just done a fresh install of LM19.3 MATE 64bit and then added the Xapp ...

Re: Transferring my Data Hard Drive after a fresh Installation

Thank you, ciniset. That worked immediately once I determined what I should enter for <GROUP> by using

$ groups <USER>

In my case I used the first group which appeared i.e. "adm". This will make transferring my data quicker and more reliable in future. :D

<Solved> Transferring my Data Hard Drive after a fresh Installation

Question How do I set permissions correctly/easily to continue using my Data Drive after a fresh install of the system drive? Background I have been running LM18.3 from a System Drive and put my onto a separate drive i.e. Data Drive. After installing LM19.3 to a third drive, which then becomes my n...

There is a simpler way for many keys esp. the CapsLock key. Look at:

Re: Key remapping <SOLVED - again>

Brilliant! I've been removing the CapsLock key for 15 years or more, first in Windoze and then in Linux Mint. Occasionally I'd look for a better way to solve the problem. (Why on Earth is there such as large CapsLock key anyway esp. in such a valuable location on the keyboard? Does anybody use it ev...

Re: Amazon prime movies in sd only

In case anyone is following this still, Amazon specifically states that only SD is available on Linux: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201422810 . It seems this is a policy by Amazon and is quite new: https://www.amazonforum.com/forums/digital-content/prime-video/507454-h...

Re: VirtualBox shared folders

Once you get it running, make sure you're in the vboxsf group on the guest. Thank you, ajgringo619. You comment solved my problem - I was being told I didn't have permissions to access the folder when inside my Guest. Adding myself to this group (also inside the Guest) solved the problem. :D For an...

Teamviewer 14 - Login Problem on LM 18.3

After using Teamviewer (TV) for years the update to TV 14 was recently installed. Unfortunately it was no longer possible to login and therefore TV became useless as I could no longer support remote computers. All had been OK using TV 13. I found a work-around based on Re: Teamviewer 13 not connecti...

Re: Network Printing with Remmina

I've marked this "Solved" because after creating a new Quick Connect profile to the same server without changing any settings I found that local printing worked perfectly.

Perhaps the explanation is that local printing cannot be activated after a Quick Connect profile is created?

[Solved] Network Printing with Remmina

Hi, I've just started using Remmina 1.2.31.2 (from the repository) on LM18.3 to connect to work's server running Windows Server 2012 R2. It is intended to replace Windows-RDP/Win7/Virtualbox. It works like a charm except that I can't print to my local network printer - which does work using Windows-...
