Unity and Mint

I seriously love Unity on Mint. Guess i'll get a few 'go to Ubuntu' posts. I really do love it. I hate to have to switch once Unity changes to full QT and I can't use it anymore. Would be awesome if Mint did their own Unity version.

Noob Seeks to Have Perfect Fonts. Seeks Help from the Master

Hello all, I've been messing around with my fonts since I started using Linux, which was about 2 weeks ago, so I' m quite a noob. Googling around has always brought me to this forum, so I'm seeking help here. I know you guys use Infinality, which I've tried, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the route...

Re: Emulating Mac fonts, problem with Helvetica

I've been fiddling with the Infinality setting for quite some time.
No matter what I do, the fonts render square.
Can I please pay someone to make Helvetica look exactly like this?

Emulating Mac fonts, problem with Helvetica

I've edited my fonts.conf to emulate my Mac's fonts https://gist.github.com/dannymichel/7105860 , but Helvetica is still rendering vertically short. Please take a look at the comparison here with Linux on the left and Mac on the right where it says 'View Summary" http://i.imgur.com/lgGOINL.png

Re: Closest thing to Time Machine

I used back in time and i tried doing that, but all my home folder permissions were jacked and it didnt restore apps and settings. I've used BackInTime for years now and it does what the OP is asking. You must not have done something correct as I use my BIT backups to restore all my personal data a...

Closest thing to Time Machine

What I want is something that I can use to make incremental backups all day so that if anything goes wrong, I can reinstall Mint then reinstall whatever the app is and do 'Full Restore' and all my apps, settings, everything is basically cloned. Is this even possible? And is this what I'm looking for...

Re: How to Create a Theme for Mint

1) Metacity Themes: This is what controls the look of the window borders and titlebars. It's an .xml file so dig around in a few different ones to get an idea of what is possible. A lot of them actually pull some of their colors from from your Gtk theme. Unfortunately, the window shadows cannot be ...

How to Create a Theme for Mint

I'm a newb of course, and I dont intend to fully make my own theme, but i am a web developer and designer so I can imagine being able to make minor edits. Firstly, I dont know the difference between all the components such as what controls window shadows and title bars etc. There is just so much. Th...

High Pitched Noise When Switching to 5.1

When I switch from stereo to 5.1 and turn the sound up on an app like spotify or youtube, i get this horrible high pitched noise that i cant explain. it fully replaces any audio and is very loud.

Screenshot Shortcut with Crosshair

I'm looking for a way to use a keyboard shortcut to either take a full screen screenshot or bring up a croshair to take a section. i'd need a keyboard shortcut(not just the print screen, because i want a crosshair). I'm looking for a native to mint way to do this. If not, an app would be fine.
