Re: Install Virtualbox 6.0 in Mint 19.1

You probably didn't purge all of the old virtualbox before starting. Go and have a look in synaptic package manager and see if there are any bits left over. This is all you should have after a successful install of VB6.0 - one item only! wther_009.jpg Recommend the installation method provided by M...

Canonical ucode bundle bricks my Samsung/Acer-notebooks.

I had this trouble too. My whole system mint18.3 will not boot because of an offset-pointer error which confuses the heck out of GRUB. Time shift is useless in this case because it has nothing to do with the file management system The problem occurs before the system post. I'm very reluctant now to ...

Re: [SOLVED]Software manager "An error occurred"

One way is to open the Update Manager, and there in the View menu you will find 'the Linux kernel'. From there, you can remove them one by one. Click on one, and you'll see the Remove button. Make sure to keep at least one that you know to be working, apart from the currently active one. IS there a...

firmware-update-bundles are ruining my mint18/17 experience

Can anyone help me unravel this new firmware-update "linux-firmware (1.127.24) trusty" for my amd64-pc? I don't have an Intel-PC I use amd64-A12 & K2 processor. Both machines will fork when trying to do a software-update using apt-get distro-update, or by using the software-manager. Th...

Re: Windows Boot Manager not working through Mint dualboot Grub Acer Aspire TC-710

It shouldn't matter how many windows partitions you have in your machine. However grub2 can only reconcile the one that is in the /Recovery partition (100mb-only) which is usually the first partition /sda1 on your drive. This partition should have the /boot flag set because the chain-loader reads th...

Re: Change the grub configuration

did you follow all the instructions and the run "update-grub" as root-user? See attached picture for output. Warning this will overwrite your boot-menu. If you need to customize your boot menu use grub-customizer tool. >>sudo apt-get install grub-customizer. I find that making changes to g...

say goodbye to GRUB hello to boottorrent

If your like me you've diddled with grub a few times. Especially of you want a multi-boot system. That in itself is a misnomer. Cos you can only boot one system at a time with GRUB. Of course you can boot multiple systems if your clever enough to run a virtual boot load or VMware slackware equivalen...

I also had this problem in other release FF61.0.1 & FF62beta it also forks. There is something wrong in the checking of blocklist & proxy services in Malaysia. Even when I disabled my settings to "no-proxy" I am locked out of this website linuxmint. I noticed it occurring on other ...

I posted this to recall what I did to fix the system. I'm not sure it's a bug with browser or a user error in security cert managers. I'm investigating that. :?:

FireFox-Quatum FF60.0.1 goes dark in forums, community linuxmint (18.3) after upgraded to kernel 4.13.0-45(mintupdate 5)

If your like me you don't visit mint forums everyday cos your far too busy. I notice yesterday on Sundry after performing a system mintupdate (5.3.5.3) that I was no longer able to read forums or visit some linux community pages. I don't have a firewall (shame on me,) so I was pretty sure that was n...

Reply: opening windows shares on Mint 16 (cinnamon)[SOLVED]

I'd would hardly call this problem solved. I'm using Mint16 KDE ISO and it appears that Dolphin can't open NAS shares out of the box. After some tinkering with workgroups and network settings. I was able to get my NAS shares to be viewable, but not downloadable. I was forced to use the FF-browser we...

Re: Multiboot LiveDVD with EFI/ISO

Have you tried using grub-customizer or unetbooting for this task? The following was made using these tools to boot either a local image or from an ISO file over USB. 1) Install Unetbootin and set images to boot using UUIDs from drives /root node. >sudo apt-get install unetbootinm 2) to install grub...
