Re: My Abstract Wallpapers

I like these. I'm using the top one on my Windows laptop, but I know that's blasphemy. I also have it on my Mint set-up, so I'll post that in the other thread.

At any rate, thanks for making all these wallpapers.

Re: Cisco AM10 not working in Qiana and other new distros

Downgrading the kernel didn't work. I successfully downgraded to 3.11.10: paul@paul-HP-dx5150-SFF-PZ585UA ~ $ uname -a Linux paul-HP-dx5150-SFF-PZ585UA 3.11.10-03111013-generic #201407081235 SMP Tue Jul 8 16:44:49 UTC 2014 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux Sorry, I lost track of the thread that I used for ...

Recommended USB wifi adapters for Qiana

I may decide to buy a new USB wifi adapter.

What are some USB network/wifi adapters that definitely work with Linux Mint 17? Adapters that don't double as storage devices -- and therefore don't need mode switching -- are preferable.

Thanks.

Re: Cisco AM10 not working in Qiana and other new distros

So, it's pretty clear that this is probably a kernel problem. I'm not sure if the usb-modeswitch packages are relevant at all, even though patching them did work once on a live session. The Debian website says this : On Debian, this is not needed, since the driver is included as a Linux kernel modul...

Cisco AM10 not working in Qiana and other new distros

(mintWifi output at end) I was using SolydK in March when a major update broke support for my USB network adapter, a Cisco Valet Connector AM10 . I swithced to Linux Mint 16 Xfce , which I've been using since. In the meantime, I've tested several recent distributions on live USB, and I feel relative...

If it works, write it down in case you need to do it again in the future.

Re: Mint 16, Broadcom, No Wireless (or wired) After Install!

This problem apparently has nothing to do with Linux Mint 16. I have since tried installing Xubuntu 13.10 on the same laptop, and I've experienced the same problems with Xubuntu that I described on Linux Mint, including a wired ethernet problem that I didn't notice with Mint. I doubt that there is a...

Re: Mint 16, Broadcom, No Wireless (or wired) After Install!

I'm having the same problem, after installing Mint 16 Xcfe on an old HP Compaq that has a Broadcom 802.11 a/b/g WLAN . From the Driver Manager, when I click the radio button for the "bcmwl-kernel-source" driver and try to apply the changes, the Driver Manager window almost imediately goes back to th...

Re: gedit - Can't install custom syntax highlighter file

Thank you. Run the validator: bash check.sh I do not get an error about xmllint. When I'm not logged in as root, I get a warning about the syntax file I'm interested in as well as two identical I/O "Permission denied" errors: warning: failed to load external entity "hugo.lang" When I log in as root ...

gedit - Can't install custom syntax highlighter file

Someone else wrote a gedit GTKSourceview syntax highlighter definition file (with a .lang extension) for a rare high-level language used for creating text adventure games. I've been trying to install the file, but I can't get syntax coloring to appear or make gedit recognize the source file type. Th...
