Re: Ctrl-Alt-Fn Mystery in Linuxmint 15 Mate 1.6.0

I had these same symptoms in a few Ubuntu flavors as well as Mate on the Intel D2550MUD2 motherboard. One of the Ubuntu flavors (Xubuntu 13.04) matched another build nearby where I do not have this issue. Description of the 2 builds: https://launchpad.net/~texadactyl Xubuntu 13.04 on the ASROCK buil...

Ctrl-Alt-Fn Mystery in Linuxmint 15 Mate 1.6.0

I conducted a weird experiment. I pressed Ctrl-Alt-F1 and observed that the Mate desktop seemed to be covering up the normal getty login screen. Flying blind, I then proceeded to login as root and I rebooted the system just using the keyboard without the benefit of being able to see what I was typin...

I just installed Mate 15. It looks nice. So far, so good. You may not need a special driver.

Re: "cannot display this video mode" during install

I just installed Mate 15 on my oddball Cedar Trail rig (D2550MUD2 mobo). I must say that I was pleased with the results. The default graphics configuration was 1024x768x60, good enough to see what I was doing. I was able to achive 1920x1280x60 in the end as follows: ⋅ I went into the "...

Re: Watch out for newest Intel Atom processors

Albert,

When I said that Intel dropped the ball, I probably should have explicitly referenced the D2550MUD2 and other similar motherboards. They are Intel products. I understand that they, and others, routinely incorporate other folks components into their mobo products.

Re: "cannot display this video mode" during install

Condolences from another Intel D2550MUD2 (aka "Cedar View" aka GMA3650) user. I had similar issues of graphics usability with various Linux distros. I am a long-time 'buntu user. Lately, I have focused on xubuntu. In 13.04 and 13.10, I discovered that I can get a reasonable installation *A...

Re: Watch out for newest Intel Atom processors

I have an Intel D2550MUD2 mobo (Atom, CedarView - GMA3650). I am currently using Xubuntu 13.10 Alpha2 (should be very similar to Mint Xfce) with the following setup: ⋅ Desktop - XFCE version 4 ⋅ Xorg driver - xserver-xorg-video-modesetting 0.8.0-0ubuntu1.1 ⋅ Kernel modu...
