Re: external USB failure to mount / read

Internal is SATA, as is the external drive, via USB 3.0.

I am on LM 17.3, have been for a while. Keep upgrading stuff, trying to get stuff like this to work - so it's probably got a few packages that aren't from totally clean install of 17.3.

external USB failure to mount / read

Hello Got a drive out of a WD MyBook Live. Bricked, trying to recover data. Bolted it into an external USB housing, Linux can't see the drive. stephan@Ursula ~ $ lsusb Bus 002 Device 005: ID 03f0:231d Hewlett-Packard Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth Combo Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0408:03ba Quanta Computer, Inc...

Re: No Connection to Bluetooth Speakers

You're welcome Ullika.

FWIW I once I rebooted it was unhappy again - and I haven't had time to fix it. No AD2P - but I figure I can always remove and re-connect it. Anyway, hope I helped.

Re: No Connection to Bluetooth Speakers

I got it to work ! OK, As several other have found, Bluetooth + A2DP +Pulse Audio + Mint 17 = not working. I will refrain from repeating everything everyone else has written. in short, I have had to a) edit my /etc/bluetooth/ audio.conf b) use pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover and that wor...

Re: WPA Supplicant is not happy.

So tonight it happened to pull the connect and then drop routine. Here are some lines from kern.log, which look relevant to my n00b eye. The boot took place around 20:09, autheentication at 20:09:20 sounds right. I note an un-authenticate and re-authenticate routine at 20:09:22 and 20:09:26 - ???? t...

Re: WPA Supplicant is not happy.

Hey Trapperjohn, OK, I did that, and since I live in an apartment there are lots of signals, including others trying to use the channels I was. So I switched to channel 13. No immediate effect, I ran the scan about 20 times and I was the only one on 13 or 36. After switching, here is the output belo...

Re: WPA Supplicant is not happy.

OK, so the modprobe to remove hp_wmi had no apparent effect. Disquietingly, neither did turning off the encryption - so it may not be wpa-supplicant to blame after all. Where should I look next ? A buddy suggested that it may be hardware - I have a USB dongle (brand X but sold to me in a kit with my...

Re: WPA Supplicant is not happy.

modprobe -r r8169 worked, i.e. kiled the wired connection, but did not improve the wireless. A review of /var/log/wicd/wicd.log shows the usual pattern - wpa-supplicant goes off and thinks about it, eventually wicd gives up and terminates and restarts wpa-supplicant. Repeat ad infintum or until I gi...

Re: WPA Supplicant is not happy.

Easy question first - no the Live CD does not give me a stable connection. which has me extremely stumped. I installed Mint 13, it was fine for months, then stopped working. In other words, the live CD should be going back to a config that worked, but does not. stephan@Ursula ~ $ sudo rfkill list [s...

Re: WPA Supplicant is not happy.

Hey thanks for the suggestion & help. Yes, iwlwifi is there. But it is not via some firmware-iwlwifi or indeed any *iwlwifi* package. I assume it was installed by some package like linux-firmware. Certainly the changelog for that package mentions iwlwifi. output of lsmod: (iwlwifi is about 17 items ...

WPA Supplicant is not happy.

So, I see many other posts, which may or may not be related to my issues. I have been having wifi issues, in playing about I have managed to determien that wpa supplicant does not seem to be happy. This started when I did an update, but that was a while ago. In an attempt to fix it I have been updat...
