Re: LMDE 201303 released!

http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2346 I just did a fresh install of LMDE 201303 Cinnamon 32-bit on my AMD64 desktop. This is the best I’ve seen. The live installer is smooth and simple to use. In general this is my new favorite Debian based system. After the install it was not necessary to add or remov...

Re: Desktops and Search Engines

I may have missed it but, I have not came across anything stating you are the main defender of everything Linux Mint. If you have comments that help another user or answer a question, please do. I don't need your remarks.

Re: Desktops and Search Engines

If that option was still available we would not be having this conversation. As has already been highlighted, there is nothing to prevent you changing the behaviour to suit yourself. The option is still available. It's just not the default. Don't like the default? Change it. I give up. I'll...

Re: Desktops and Search Engines

You may be right about the hissy fit but I don't think so. Noun. A sudden outburst of temper, often used to describe female anger at something trivial. Originally regional from American South. Thought to originate from contraction of "hysterical fit." My point is this Mint is my Linux Distribution o...

1st Unity works just fine. The desktop issues are not negative enough not use it. People just don't like change.

Re: Linux Mint 12 Release Candidate

Not yet. But I expect Mint 12 to be here within a day: http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/linuxmint.com/testing/ Tonight it'll appear at most other mirrors, and I think it'll appear on the Linux Mint website tomorrow, along with a torrent. I'm using the Linux Mint 12-Gnome dvd-64 Bit rc and in my opinion it'...

Re: LMDE 201108 RC (Gnome & Xfce) released!

Clem, The gnome desktop works 100% for me. Everything. No problems. I think this is the best LMDE to date. :D In my opinion it is no longer necessary to be based on anything but Debian. I have been hoping for this and here it is. Thank's everyone. :) As a user I'm very happy for Linux Mint and mysel...

Re: We need more testers to the new incoming repo (how-to)

I think it was in 2008 that I first heard talk about the possibility of Linux Mint being based on Debian and not Ubuntu. Since that time, I have attempted to prepare myself for the change. I downloaded live DVDs of LMDE in September and December of last year. I have worked with it and had some succe...

Re: Start the name Suggestions for Mint 12

How about Lizann Meaning Liberator and Feminine of Lysander. Liberator Lysander is one of the main characters in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream or Lysandra: Defends man. Also Feminine of Lysander. http://www.pickbabynames.com/_country/Greek-12.html Today I have LMDE Xfce installed, updated ...

Linux Mint 11-rc no surprises

I have never been a fan of surprises. You have the risk of them not being good ones and that is just one of the reasons I use Linux Mint. Mint 11-rc follows a long list of Mint releases that have been solid, easy for a new Linux user and best of all is the availability of any program or functionalit...

Re: How does one contact the Mint developers? - Re: Naffy

It’s truly amazing that in the month you have been here that you know what us long time mint users want or don’t understand. Indeed, having been a Mint user myself for a long time (I started at either 5 or 6), as well as being a regular in the Mint IRC channels for a LONG time before finally gettin...

Re: How does one contact the Mint developers? - Re: Naffy

By trying to influence Mint one way or the other it will need to be in part the pros and cons of Unity being discussed. I usually find the first step in hoping to influence people is not to be ignored because I can't resist childhood name calling, but whatever floats your boat. FOSS developers tend...

Re: LMDE is it worth it for a PC user?

My thoughts : with a new install of Main edition each 6 months or each year, you will get less headaches and your softs will be more up-to-date than with a rolling distro. IMHO, LMDE is a good choice for skilled Debian users, not for the average user. I have seen "LMDE is good for skilled Debian us...

Re: Linux Mint Standard or LMDE?

Hi and thanks for the answers. I have LMDE to a point I am happy with the exception of the nvidia video driver. Without it things are a bit slower. That is OK. The screen does not look the way I have become accustomed to. I have tried every suggestion posted on the Mint forums along with Ubuntu, Deb...

Linux Mint Standard or LMDE?

As of today DistroWatch’s page hit rankings has Julia listed in the #2 position among Linux Distributions. That spot is just 202 points behind Ubuntu and 1328 points ahead of the next Ubuntu based distro. From the information I have read Linux Mint 10 Julia has 3 times more users than openSUSE or Fe...

Is the Linux Mint Gnome Main Edition losing favouritism?

Is the Linux Mint Gnome Main Edition losing favoritism to anything else? I don’t think so. Just check the stats :http://community.linuxmint.com/ As Dirty Harry once stated “Opinions are like (click here: http://www.hark.com/clips/gnsvgbznhz-opinions) everyone has one. After years of using many Links...
