Re: Dukto - install and run on Mint 21

At home we have two different Debian based Linux (Mint & MX) which we use exclusively. No Windows. We have 5 machines which are all connected via LAN so it is easy as can be to connect directly via Thunar from one machine to the other, and vice versa. However, for vacations and being out on the ...

Re: Can't get DUKTO to work on Mint 21

@RollyShed Well, getting it to work is once thing while getting dukto to work properly is another story. For example: I followed the information on the earlier provided link, first response to my post. Purged dukto everywhere, rebooted, did updates, then followed the steps to reinstall dukto accord...

Re: Can't get DUKTO to work on Mint 21

To be honest I don't really remember how I installed it on her Mint system. As before a long time ago ;) I was actually looking for a .deb file to install which is apparently no longer possible. So I found several sites (not the one with your link) with varying instructions and tried out a couple of...

Can't get DUKTO to work on Mint 21

Hi everyone, Nobody in our family uses Windows anymore. We've been using Dukto for the past several years when we wanted to transfer files between our machines via WiFi / Wlan. Now to clarify before suggestions about Warpinator arrive here .... Dukto is hands down the absolutely easiest tool to use ...

Re: XFCE Desktop with Iris XE Graphics - Drivers needed?

The command shows .... $ xrandr -q xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1080, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 1920 x 1080 default connected 1920x1080+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1920x1080 0.00* .... and refreshing the displays appears to make no difference either. XFCE Desktop with Iris XE Graphics - Drivers needed?

Hi everyone, For Christmas I received a new computer with an Intel Core i5-13500H processor. The only graphics on the machine are the built-in Iris XE graphics with DirectX 12.1 and the capability to support up to 4 screens simultaneously. I'm having some concerns about the compatibility between Min...

Re: Read / Write access literally vanishes from SSD after about an hour

About 90 minutes ago I installed a new GPT table. No problem, just like before. Then I shut off the system, followed by booting it back up a couple of minutes later. Gnome disks and gparted both recognized the 4TB empty disk space. But I've been through that before and it was the same then as well. ...

Re: Read / Write access literally vanishes from SSD after about an hour

As I already explained in my initial post, the 4TB Samsung SSD received a GPT partition table onto which I installed 3 partitions. The partitions (sda, sda2, sda3) are each smaller than 2TB ... even though that's actually irrelevant with a GPT partition table. Just for the heck of it, last night I d...

Re: Read / Write access literally vanishes from SSD after about an hour

Thanks. I understood your described issue to be something related to USB sticks and SD cards, but never heard before that something like that is also possible on a bonafide hard disk? In my work with literally hundreds of computers, regardless if they had SATA, IDE, or SSD, I've never encountered so...

Read / Write access literally vanishes from SSD after about an hour

Hi everyone, Got a brand new computer for Christmas, lucky me. :D  :( I've been a Linux only user (after 12 years with Windows) since 2009 and I'm also a professional computer technician. For the past 3 days I've been experiencing an issue with a brand new 4 TB Samsung SSD drive, unlike anyth...

Re: Lightdm won't respond during boot ... auto login / xfce

Thanks for the reply.
My xfce desktop doesn't have the screen that you displayed. I'm using the German language version and my xfce has this lightdm menu:
(Bild means picture) ;)
How/where would I find the file to add an autologin delay?

<SOLVED> - Lightdm won't respond during boot ... auto login / xfce

Hi everyone. I'm having an odd issue with lightdm on my xfce desktop. Lightdm is supposed to work during the startup process (cold boots and reboots) as well as during log-offs. Well, when I log off on my machine, the lightdm greeter is there as expected with login, password prompt, etc. But when th...

SOLVED - Re: Thunderbird - Strictly Thunderbird - no longer receives Email

PROBLEM SOLVED !!! :D There was nothing wrong on my wife's computer or with Thunderbird. The new Letsncrypt Cerftificates couldn't take hold because the recently expired certificates hadn't been removed yet. Apparently that was not an automated process of the (ISPConfig) panel that we utilize. I pai...

Re: Thunderbird - Strictly Thunderbird - no longer receives Email

Well, it's like I said in my very first post on this subject. I do believe that the problem is related to a server certificate error from our server. I don't know what to do about that though and am currently waiting for assistance on that issue. (since everything in our panel shows up as working co...

Re: Thunderbird - Strictly Thunderbird - no longer receives Email

Thanks for all of the input. That leaves me with two questions though. If I download and install the latest Thunderbird for Debian / Sid from here: https://pkgs.org/download/thunderbird 1. Will it be possible to import my wife's older Thunderbird profile & message store (15 years of messages) as...

Re: Thunderbird - Strictly Thunderbird - no longer receives Email

Thank you Larry78723 and SMG. That's how I knew it to be too, that you get items updated through the package manager with all needed bug fixes, etc. We don't have an email provider or rather, our domains provide our email addresses and I manage our hosting panel with our domains. Since both of us ha...
