Unable to print to shared printer

My issue is odd. I have two computers in my house, both are running Linux Mint "maya" 13, with mate desktops (all fully updated ). On one of those computers I am sharing an HP Deskjet 970cxi. I created an account on that computer for myself to authenticate and made it member of the "samba" group. In...

Re: LM 13, Mate, Firefox & You Tube Freeze.

Disable hardware acceleration in FF. Preferences -> advanced - general. That did not help. I have found something more. Chrome has no such difficulties, it plays a You Tube video all the way through without freezing the browser, no matter how long the video. This appears not to be a flash issue per...

LM 13, Mate, Firefox & You Tube Freeze.

I am using Linux Mint 13 with Mate and Firefox latest version. Firefox completely freezes after several minutes of playing a video on You Tube, I have to force quit. I am able to play flash videos fine out side of Firefox in MPlayer with no problems. My computer is a 2007 Compaq, intel graphics chip...

Linux Mint 13 (mate) and Windows 7 file sharing

I have been using Linux Mint 13 LTS (mate) from 2012 to now. My parents have a Windows 7 computer which shares a printer to me no problem. All systems are fully up to date. Using the Win7 interface or the "network servers" applet in LX13, I am able to see the Win7 shared computer from LX13 , but una...

Re: Can move opensuse HD between PC's but not Mint?

Is the original computer and the one you are putting the hard drive IDENTICAL. You can not swap HDs and expect to boot into an OS on a computer that is not identical to the one the OS was originally installed on. By identical I mean same make and model, same processor and chip set, same mother board...

Re: Linux Mint 13 MATE, timezone issue

This worked from the previous poster...

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
Also logout and back in after each of those.

Good luck [/quote]

Re: Linux Mint 13 MATE, timezone issue

I have looked at the GUI SEVERAL times and I do not see "network" time. I have seen that before in other versions and purposely looked for it again. Not there. The odd thing is that it remembers my new location, but does not keep the time in that location. It remembers the previous time zone. Must b...

Linux Mint 13 MATE, timezone issue (SOLVED)

Hi; I have been using LinuxMint 13 "Maya" MATE on my desktop since maya came out. Completely updated to this day. I moved to a different time zone and changed my location and the time through the GUI. Everytime I reboot, the time is what it would have been in my old time zone. I have used the Termin...

Re: Maya keeps saying Flash player is out of date

I finally decide to tackle this. Open Synaptic and install flashplugin-installer. The latest version as of this post is 11.2.202.275ubuntu0.12.04.1. I tried many things before trying this and caused myself a huge headache. Yes that resolution solved it for me as well. roadrash please edit the subje...

Re: Maya keeps saying Flash player is out of date

I am having the same issue and I think most people will have this issue that use Linux. If you are on you tube or anywhere a flash video is and click on the warning (anywhere except the update link) you should see the vide and be able to play it still. As per a statement some months ago, Adobe annou...

Re: Problem in updating

mister_lister, repeating an incorrect hypothesis - mintupdate 4.4.7 being responsible for the problem which this thread is about - over and over again does not turn into a correct hypothesis. Karl I know your type, you like to argue. Please check the bug report thread. This has happened on 2 differ...

*ADMIN DO NOT MOVE THIS TOPIC FROM THIS FORUM PLEASE* I am using LinuxMint 13 (maya) and I was fully updated yesterday. Yesterday is when these issues started, right after I updated to MintUpdate 4.4.7. At first I got an error message regarding the authentication, there was no option other than to s...

Re: maya mint update 4.4 fail

A little closer inspection of the error message I got, reveals a potential bad address in the following error and subsequent: Failed to fetch http://packages.linuxmint.com/dists/maya/Release.gpg Unable to connect to packages.linuxmint.com:http: This part in particular, "packages.linuxmint.com:http:"...

Re: WIFI issues Broadcom

I am not here to argue with you, but what I posted solved all of my Broadcom issues back when.

If your situation is truely a hard block and not simply an incorrect driver, bios issue, or physical switch issue, then you might want to try my solution.

Re: WIFI issues Broadcom

I get the impression that it was working before you did the so called "upgrade" of the broadcom drivers? If so I don't know if what I am about to write will work for you. IF NOT then there is a standard work around for resolving broadcom issues -- It is as follows: Do the following in terminal in yo...
