Re: Scaling Panel's Text Size???

The failure of the label font size to change with panel size is a side effect of the panel revamp allowing icon sizing to be fully user controlled in Cinnamon 4. I understand allowing the same for labels is on the cards for Cinnamon 4.2 (I think the intention is to make all of the font characterist...

Re: Scaling Panel's Text Size???

Yes, but that control you mention is a universal control. That is to say, it scales all text by the ratio the user sets. I am looking for something (as it was I think since LM 17.3) that controls text and icon scaling specifically in the panel . Here is a screen shot of the Panel Control from LM 18....

Scaling Panel's Text Size???

LM Cinnamon 19.1 upgraded from 19.0. The upgrade seemed to go well, but upon logging into Cinnamon, I noticed that my custom config of the panel looked wrong. Specifically, in LM 18.x and 19.0, I set the panel icons and text to scale to the panel size. However, while the new panel control allows for...

Re: Can't access Grub Boot Menu...

4.8.0-x went end of life in August 17 - it's final security patch to 4.8.0-58 was on 26/7/17. Currently, the 4.4 and 4.13 series are supported and getting current security issues patched. 4.4 will be supported until 2021, 4.13 to August 2018 after which 4.15 will take over. Thanks very much! OK, so...

Re: Can't access Grub Boot Menu...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have checked the functionality of the left SHIFT and it works OK. Regarding the timing of my pressing of the key at boot, I hold SHIFT just after the UEFI/BIOS screen goes away. If I press ESC after the BIOS screen, I will get a GRUB command line. That is above my pay g...

Can't access Grub Boot Menu...

Hi everyone- Running Mint 18.1 with the 4.8.0-58 kernel and a backup 4.8.0-39 kernel. Single Boot system, just Mint 18.1. Everything runs fantastic. Normally, Mint boots right to the Mint logo and up comes my log in screen. In the past, I have been able to access my Grub boot menu by holding down th...

Re: After todays update-->initctl: Unable to connect to Upstart

For Mint 18.1 on the 4.8 kernel: I have yet to apply the purge, now running from a spare computer while I learn what happened... Something else odd: when initially confronted with this issue, I tried to reboot and hold the SHIFT key to see if I could boot into a backup kernel. To my surprise, the ke...

Re: Rx560 No HDMI sound

Tested a daily iso build of Ubuntu 18.04 to day and sound over hdmi(on Asus RX 560) is working for me now. :D Thanks for posting this. So, there is light at the end of the tunnel! :D What kernel are you on there with your 18.04? Is your GPU loading the Ubuntu drivers or are you using the AMDGPU-Pro...

Re: Thunderbird 45.8.0 hangs on new Gmail password window<SOLVED>

This is something new that has not shown up for me yet. Has anyone started a new topic for this question? It might be more appropriate to do this as it very likely is the result of completely different aspects of T-bird. (Btw I have noticed some small glitches in Firefox transitioning with the new p...

Re: <SOLVED> Cinnamon Crashes

I have a clean install of Sonya for some time now without any issues at all. All of a sudden, two days ago, Cinnamon started crashing, never happened before, it has happened about five times now. It enters Fallback mode. Yes, same thing here. Only has happened once but I have been seeing lots of re...

Update Mgr runs on inital login of STANDARD account!

Hi everyone- Working on a clean install of LM Cinnamon 18.2, I noticed that after establishing a STANDARD user account, upon first login to that account the Update Manager (Mintupdate) appears in the panel in the same manner as it does in an ADMIN account, requesting programming. I don't remember pr...

Re: <SOLVED> Cinnamon Crashes

Yeah, it just crashed on me so 4.10 doesn't help. I wasn't even doing anything with the system at the time. Are you on an upgraded install or a clean install? I have had some weird desktop issues with Sonya as well. This is on a upgraded version of LM Cinnamon (18.1 --> 18.2) on a stable old pre EF...

Re: Xscreensaver locks screen unbidden immediately after login.

Yes, I am experiencing something somewhat similar in Cinnamon 18.2 ( on the same day I upgraded from 18.1). Here is the basic scenario: July 28, 2017: I upgraded from LM Cinnamon 18.1 to 18.2. Installed updates, rebooted. There were no apparent problems with the upgrade. The Login window is the same...

Re: Unattended Upgrades Working in LM 18.1 or 18.2??

Here are a couple of links that speak to the question of the 20auto-upgrades files and its relationship to 10periodic: https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/automatic-updates.html https://www.hiroom2.com/2016/05/18/ubuntu-16-04-auto-apt-update-and-apt-upgrade/ These pertain to Ubuntu 16.04. Re: Unattended Upgrades Working in LM 18.1 or 18.2??

Update: Mint 18.2 Unattended Upgrades is working as it did in Mint 17.x. It installed two security upgrades this morning. However, I am still not sure what the 20AutoUpgrades file script is all about. I am utilizing the 10Periodic file script to daily check repos, download, install and then run auto...

Re: Unattended Upgrades Working in LM 18.1??

Hey something unexpected showed up: NOTE: Because I was unsure why 18.1 didn't seem to come with UU, and 18.2 did, I am experimenting with LM 18.2 here: After I set up UU per the old method, I did the usual dry run to make sure my listed repo sources were OK. When I opened the UU log file, there wer...

Re: Unattended Upgrades Working in LM 18.1??

Just an observation: On a "twice upgraded" version of LM 18.2 (original install LM 18.0), I noticed that Unattended Upgrades IS INSTALLED and is current (v. 0.9ubuntu0.6) and supported by Mint 18.2. UU_in-LM18.2.png I can't say if this is just left-over from the original LM 18.0 install, b...
