Re: Windows close / mouse moves on its own (cinnamon)

Topic renamed and moved to support forum. Looks like you have a laptop. Do you perhaps use an external mouse or are you aren't a careful typer? It's somewhat common for people with laptops to drag their wrists across their touchpad and trigger such "ghost" actions themselves. Yes, I do have a lapto...

Windows close / mouse moves on its own (cinnamon)

I've been using Linux for a few years now. I started out with Ubuntu, but switched to Mint after a couple of years because I got pretty fed up with Unity. Anyway, with Mint I started out with MATE but switched to Cinnamon because I like the way Cinnamon has a lot more polish. I've been using Cinnamo...

I just checked the BIOS and there is no option to disable. I'll reseat the wifi card later on when I'm not at work.

[SOLVED] Can't use wifi

I'm at a loss. I've been using Linux successfully for quite some time now so I probably should know how to fix this problem but, alas, I do not. Anyway, up until yesterday my wifi was working fine. Now it won't work. The icon is not appearing in the system tray. Wired Ethernet does work, though. I a...

Re: Driver Manager

Now I feel stupid about posting this here. I restarted my computer and all was well. For the stupid questions I ask, you really wouldn't think that I've been a Linux user for years.

Driver Manager [SOLVED]

I'm trying to change one of my drivers in the driver manager because I have a Nvidia graphics card so I need the proprietary driver. I want to use the Nvidia-340 driver but whenever I try to change it to that from xserver-xorg-video-nouveau driver, the changes won't take.

Re: graphics board memory

I'm not entirely certain what is meant by "graphics board." It's the first I've heard of it. But that's the term used by PlayOnLinux.

graphics board memory

I'm trying to figure out how to determine how much memory my graphics board uses. PlayOnLinux wants to know (I want to play Monkey Island because I'm in a nostalgic mood). I'm currently running LM 17 64 bit with the Cinnamon DE.

Re: Caja won't open

Okay, I just did as you said. Again, as if I were to try to open caja through the GUI, it would not open. Anyway here is what the system log said. from syslog: Apr 10 15:31:32 rachel-XPS-L521X dbus[477]: [system] Activating service name='org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends.SMBConfig' (using serviceh...

Caja won't open

I'm pretty new to LM. I just installed LM 16 64-bit MATE a couple of days ago. My only previous experience with LM is when I installed it on a friend's computer. I was an Ubuntu user at the time. Anyway, my problem is that Caja won't open. I click on it and the computer reads the disk but the progra...

Re: Need help with DVD playback

If you can copy that DVD as an ISO -file to your computer and VLC can use that file, you have a hardware issue. You can take a copy using Brasero, K3b, etc. Thanks for the help! I did what you suggested using Brasero and yes, it is a hardware issue. I guess I'll ask how to fix the problem over at t...

Need help with DVD playback

I installed Linux Mint 16 64-bit MATE yesterday. I switched from Ubuntu. I'm having trouble getting DVDs to play in VLC media player. The computer does just fine with data disks, it is in movies that it is having trouble with. I searched around for a solution but have found nothing that works. Here ...

Waking up from suspend

A couple of days ago I installed Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012. It's running great with the exception of waking up from suspend. At first, when I tried waking it up from suspend, I would get a black screen with a white underscore in the top left corner. So I tried apt-ge...
