Re: ''Missing Operating System'' when booting

Problem fixed. First I run the command on the terminal, but the error persisted: mint@mint ~ $ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt mint@mint ~ $ sudo grub-install --boot-directory=mnt/boot /dev/sda grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for /boot (is /dev mounted?). /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a...

Re: ''Missing Operating System'' when booting

I've changed the boot flag to the Windows loader. It boots Windows only. Then I run Mint from the LiveCD. From the Gparted I can see both partitions normal. Then I tried to update Grub on the terminal, but there was an error: mint@mint ~ $ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt mint@mint ~ $ sudo grub-install --...

Re: ''Missing Operating System'' when booting

Hello Karl, thanks for the reply. You are using a dual boot system, correct? Just before this happened, I had one partition with Mint 13 (Mate version newly installed) and created a new NTFS partition to install Windows 7 (Windows is installed on /dev/sda2 and Mint on /dev/sda1) for a dual boot. You...

''Missing Operating System'' when booting[SOLVED]

I've got the same "Missing Operating System" on my screen as I attempt to boot it. It had been running Mint 13 fine, then I created a new NTFS partition via Testdisk (Gparted) LiveCD and installed Windows 7. Then I run Testdisk (Gparted) again and put a Boot flag on the Mint partition. Then I reboot...

permissions to open folders on different partition[SOLVED]

After using Testdisk to attempt to recover a lost partition, it was unable to boot. So I boot it with a Mint 13 Mate LiveCD, but could not open the documents folders where I had my data, as it said I had no permissions. I did not yet reinstalled Mint and would rather save the data to an external HD ...
