Thinkpad T410 and Brightness Control

Hello people, I hope you are doing well. I am running Linux Mint 17.1 on my Thinkpad T410 with the Nvidia GPU. I cannot control the brightness of my LCD via the hotkeys (FN+HOME / FN+END). I am using KDE as my WM / Desktop. Let me know what output of what commands you need and I will be more than ha...

Re: Option to change Lock Screen background?

Hey guys....I've been looking for ages via Google searches and in Mint's settings....seems there is nowhere to easily change the wallpaper in the background of the Lock Screen....could we please make this easier in future versions? Hi darkstrike, and others, I read this, and thought when I use the ...

Re: Linux Mint 17 Qiana KDE freezes on sleep [SOLVED]

I had the sleep is reported by OP on Thinkpad T410 (Nvidia 3100). Installed the Nvidia drivers and haven't had an issue since.

I wonder if this is only limited to machine with Nvidia GPU's or if ATI and Intel machines also have issues.

Re: Linux Mint 17 KDE?

I got a new SSD and can't wait to see how it performs with Linux and my Thinkpad T410. I can do an apt-get distupgrade later, or wipe and re-install for the LTS final version. The only difference between the RC and final will be bug fixes. If you do all updates that come up the RC will become the f...

Re: Nobody is nowhere, but Debian is inside

Welcome to the Mint forums. I hope you enjoy your stay here. In regards to your project: I almost did this for one of my final projects in college. After doing all the research, I chose a different project. But things were not as user friendly 10 years ago as they are today. Which reminds me, I need...

RC. No thanks.

I will wait until the official launch.

That's what I thought you 'meant'... but re-read your previous post.. (it was conflicting/confusing ;^))
Seemed clear to me. What part was conflicting?

Re: Linux Mint 17 KDE?

As a long time KDE user I am anxiously awaiting the latest release from the Mint team. I have been using Mint 16 on one of my laptops and am very happy with it, but am holding off until the RC version is available before installing it on my primary machine. I hope they don't rush from RC to Stable a...

That blue hacktivist theme is really nice. But I am a KDE user.

Any chance of sharing the wallpaper for it?

Re: What are you most dissatisfied with in Linux Mint?

There should be an "I am satisfied / happy with Linux Mint" option in the poll.

I have used a LOT of distro's over the years and Linux Mint has remained my favorite for a long time.

It's stable, quick, easy to customize is debian based.

Now if only I made enough $$ then I could donate.

it would be nice if we could upload a photo from local storage.

That being said it will take me only a minute to upload it to photobucket and add it to my profile.

Let me quote master Yoda for you: "You must en-learn what you have learned." Linux is a whole different ball of wax. A lot more fun too if you enjoy tinkering with things. Regarding XP: I generally tend to avoid attributing post count, community points or things of that nature with the quality of th...

Have you tried using Chrome or Chromium to download the file in question?

Perhaps you could link the file here so others can try and see if they have problems with it too.

Looks legit.

Sloppy yes, but the PPA's listed are fine.
